Iiinteresting...it did bring things like unicorns, magic, sparkles, and marshmallows to mind when reading.
Mia stalked down the dim hallways, her weapon’s chains rattling. She turned the corner and ran into someone. She stumbled back and swung her pole like a nunchuk. The person blocked it with a forearm then returned the attack. She swung viciously releasing a flurry of left and right blows to the head and ribs. The man managed to block some but not all and she heard something crack when she connected with his left side of the rib cage. The guy backed off a little holding his left arm against his side. She grinned and advanced quickly to get him while he was weakened. She swung with all her strength at his head but at the last second the man stuck his hand in between her pole and his skull. He padded the blow enough that he just fell to the ground unconscious, his hand was probably badly broken though she surmised. She kicked him just to make sure he wouldn’t be any more of a problem. Damian turned to the rest of his squad, “Alex was on point and she just took him down!” Con shot back frantically, “Uh yeah! How come he didn’t feel her coming!” He was bordering on panic as they watched the girl prod Alex’s limp form. Damian shook his head, “No time. Look. here’s the plan. My power is mastering any weapon, I’ll take her on, you all wait back here and if you can, try to get Alex back up.” There was no more time to talk, the woman was stalking towards them and Damian edged out of cover to face her. He put his wrapped hands up and narrowed his eyes at her. She attacked with as much energy as before, he blocked and diverted blow after blow before she finally broke his guard. He stumbled back arms to the side and she darted after him hooking her chain around the back of his neck and pulling him close, tightening the loop. He gasped and stared at her in surprise. She sneered and whispered a few centimeters from his face. “I have already faced you friends. They all fell and failed. You thought you could lead them? You thought you could make the right choices?”
She narrowed her eyes and got nose to nose with him and hissed. “What can you do.” He made a tiny choke noise, then narrowed his eyes as well. Something harder than titanium showed in his eyes under the fear and self doubt, and she felt afraid. He barely managed to croak, “This.” Then he put all of his 200 pounds into punching her in the gut. The punch hooked up under the ribs and slammed into her diaphragm. She crumpled to the ground with no air and curled up. He knelt quickly and handcuffed her writhing body. Turning he saw Con carefully trying to wake Alex. He staggered over rubbing his throat. “How is he?” His voice sounded raw. Con shook his head, “Alive. Currently.” Damian crouched down on Alex’s other side. “Seems like not too long ago we were saving him. Deja vu.” Con tentatively felt the unconscious man’s head for wounds and swore softly, “What we really need is Landon right now. We can’t move him, like, not even a fraction. He’s safe now but if he’s moved his ribs could puncture a lung.” Damian frowned but didn’t get to reply as a group of tangos came storming around the corner about forty yards down the hall. There was no time to do anything as the tango in front chucked a grenade and beat a hasty retreat the way they’d come. The world shook and bucked up and down and rubble and dust rained down, the slick of water in the hall got warm, someone or some people screamed. They could barely be heard above the shrieking of the metal. The foundation of the building was giving in. A huge chunk of the hallway collapsed into a sinkhole seeming to have no bottom. The world settled down and the rumbles dies away. Damian pushed himself up off the floor and checked Alex, panicky.
Miraculously his breathing still seemed clear and fairly even. He even groaned softly. Next Damian looked at Con who was dazed but seemingly alright. His head jerked around when he heard a scream. Nexo was on the other side of the rift. He and Lilly had been guarding while they looked at Alex. Nexo was on his stomach gripping Lilly’s hand in both of his. The linoleum under his was disintegrating. Lilly gave another scream of terror. Nexo was filled with memories, the warehouse, Fealon, Simon, dark chasm, clinging. Lilly slipped a little and screamed again. Damian shouted to hold on and desperately searched for something sturdy and long to reach them. There was nothing. Nexo knew this, his head was clear and strangely calm. He looked deeply into Lilly’s eyes as tears traces shiny paths through the grime down here cheeks. All the good memories of her and the team, his brother. Watching her paint, takeout food weekends, brushing the hair of her eyes. Every sweet kiss. It all flashed by in an beautiful instant. He filled his mind with those things and looked deep in her eyes, she gazed back calm now. The tile disintegrated and he hugged her hard. There was no looking into the darkness, there was no falling, just hearts touching.
Damian shouted and screamed and raged at the edge. He grabbed rocks and threw them into the wall before collapsing back beside Con and Alex. Con was shattered, he heard nothing and saw nothing, felt nothing. Alex was still out. There was no sign of the pitiful twisted creature Mia. Damian sobbed until he felt as frail as a paper butterfly. He looked around. There was no one to finish the mission right now. Just him. He got up and felt the hot rage and pain and anger take over everything, an acid he was relieved to feel ravage his body. He didn’t remember walking down the halls, he didn’t remember climbing stairs. Somehow he had a pistol again. Somehow he was charging through offices. Somehow he was breaking a door down. He felt like he was watching someone else. Someone was standing in the darkened corner of the office. “Get out here now!” His voice shouted, something terrifying in his voice. “Get out here now!” The figure stepped into the dim light and Damian felt the shock of recognition. “Fealon!” The man sneered, “That’s right. You pathetic worm, you never thought you could win did you?” Fealon laughed, unstable. “It’s far too late for that, I’ve already launched my world wide domination program. You’ve lost.” Damian didn’t even remember firing, both men stared in surprise at the front of Fealon’s shirt. Then Fealon crumpled to the ground, Damian muttered, “Stay shut up.” Then turned away. Once again the unstable building bucked, the bookcase fell in seemingly slow motion onto Damian, the gun discharged again and there was chaos. Damian could barely see, everything was blurry, he couldn’t seem to get up, something heavy was on him but he couldn’t move or see what it was. A loud whapping sound filled the air and there didn’t seem to be a roof anymore, he saw a hazy figure come towards him. Another man, south american? Blurry shapes moved around and the fringes. The man spoke from far away, Damian couldn’t tell what he was saying. “My team. My team. Get my team. You need to get them out!” This time he heard the voice, Zachariah. “We got them. It’s okay now. Shhh. Shhh.” Everything went black.
Cipher gunned the engine of his car, he was heading for the airport before they shut it down. He would disappear, regroup. He was in charge now. He owned everything. Every business. Every government. Mint, news, politics, religion, houses, land, food, world trade, waste management, petroleum, water, medical. World wide. He owned everything. A new era of human history had dawned. The earth would never be the same again.
Damian stared sadly at the dirty brick wall as he sat on his bed. The entire fourth wall organization had gone underground. They were spread out some now. He held his head in his hands, Landon was in rehab, he was hard now. Different. Damian suspected they would never see the funny, joking, playful Landon again. Alex was healing but also changed, he had been chased and hurt more times than a guy should be. Con. Damian gasped a sob, they had checked Con into a special care facility. He wouldn’t eat, wouldn’t drink, he did nothing anymore. Zechariah had taken Katie under his wing, he was looking out for her. Wanda and Carter had each other. King was strong. Elliea was crushed, he could barely console her, it was going to be a long path of recovery for them. Source was staying with their group helping where he could. So were the Byrd siblings. He hadn’t added a mark for this mission.
That's the end of that version. I bet you can guess which version it was can't you. I won't do the other for a little while, to allow myself to recover. I cried writing this, don't listen to Oogway Ascends while reading. ;.;
