Well the state of Missouri was named after a tribe of Sioux Indians of the state called the Missouris. The word "Missouri" means "wooden canoe people" or "he of the big canoe." In University City, Missouri, it is illegal for a person to have a yard sale on the front yard. The Gateway Arch in St. Louis is the tallest man-made national monument in the United States. It stands 630 feet tall. yay facts!!!

Pizza Hut restaurants opened its first store in Wichita, Kansas. Helium was discovered in 1905 at the University of Kansas. At one time it was against the law to serve ice cream on cherry pie in Kansas. Kansas is the nation's second largest producer of beef cattle, behind only Texas. The origin of the name "Kansas" is from a Sioux word meaning "people of the south wind" Smith County is the geographical center of the 48 contiguous states.
