Anyways, to start over again…we get things late down here. And I just got my hands on the newest old game on the market. And it’s not even that new for down here, I was waiting for it to come down. The old guy there informed me it likely never would be, so I gave up and chucked out the money.
I think I understand why, though.
This game changed things. It was released soon after the end of that last war, and has been going strong ever since, in fact, it’s still growing in popularity. It’s a self-evolving game with a new special level released every week, so things never get stale.
But it has also turned into something else. It is the new Olympics. It is the new world cup. Every paper now includes a LEGO Multiplayer Battles scoreboard, updating people on their favorites.
Every country roots on its leaders, and somehow, it helps salve the wounds of the past. Except down here, we don’t have anybody. The top 100 leaderboard? We got a full-total of six guys on there. Two are playing for Asia, one for the CONfederation of Disunited States, and the remaining three for places in Europe. A bunch of traitors.
People pay ‘em to play over there. Anyways, the wifi has to be better over there.
Not that I have any probs with that. I slipped into my customary ledge with practiced ease, balancing on the slippery slab of concrete. I settled down, pulling my laptop out of a crevice, and powering it on.
I’m thirty feet up in the air, on what used to be the pedestal for a statue of the city’s founder. It fell out ages ago. I may or may not have helped it on its way.
