So after having the baby squirrels a few more days and getting to know them, I think I should post proper bios of them all. XD
N is the most gentle. He's been good at taking milk from the start, he generally doesn't try to climb up your arm while you're feeding him, and whenever we take him outside he's usually more interested in the snacks we put in their box than he is in bolting away, like the others. He also likes to snuggle against you more than the others, and even fell asleep in my arms once.
Chip is very rowdy, probably the most -- dare I say vicious of them all? XD -- he loves bananas, grapes, avocados, and will fight anyone who tries to take them from him. More often he's trying to steal some from his brothers He also loves to climb onto my mom's back while she's refilling the syringe with milk, and try to stay out of her reach as long as possible. xD
Dale is also rowdy, but less feisty than Chip. He loves exploring outside more than anyone else, and especially loves making a break for the car whenever we're not looking. YOU MUST ALWAYS BE LOOKING He loves to climb, whether it's on a log, a pile of bricks, or up someone's leg. Also, if you give him a banana slice, note that he will work wonders in pulverizing and attempting to swim in it.
And yeah, also, today was my first time feeding them...by myself, no less. XD It went pretty well. I got them all to eat about their usual feeding, gave them each an avocado slice, and they all eventually snuggled back down to sleep afterwards.
It was an interesting 30 minutes. I had milk splattered all over my arms, little squirrels clawing at my hands, and I...basically...loved it.
Aww, they're so sweet, well, at least N and Dale seem to be. That's actually really interesting that you've kept these squirrels as pets for a while. Where I am, I don't think I'm allowed to keep or even feed wild animals at home.
They all seem to really like food, especially Chip. I can relate to that.
You're a really good animal caretaker, Bun. It's really cool.

Awwwww!! They all sound so CUTE and SWEET and ADORABLE!! I can barely imagine what an amazing experience that must be, mess and scratches and all. XD Ohh, I hope they keep doing well!

Yeah. Chip is sweet, too, but it's probably not best to convince someone of that right before mealtime. XD Really?? That's super weird. We live in the countryside, so it's not a problem; but there's no way I'd be following a rule like that if we had it, brick no.
Same here. XD
Aww, thanks!! ^-^ I definitely couldn't be taking care of them without my mom. She wanted to be a zoologist when she was younger, and I do want to be one, so I guess together we're an animal rescue team.

They ARE, they really really are. XD :3 They're definitely a handful at times, but it's worth it.

Hehe. Make sure he doesn't steal more food from his brothers. Ah, I see. I'm sure you'd like to care for all the animals you meet and make sure they are taken care of well. I live in the city, so having wild animals inside a building with plenty of other people can be a problem, especially if they have allergies. Just rules part of health and safety code in residential buildings, I guess.
Yep. He just likes to eat whatever he can get.
You're welcome! That's awesome how your mom sort of passed down her interest in animals to you, and the two of you really are an animal rescue team. What other animals have you been able to take care of?

I bet. How long do you think you and you family will keep them?
Another due update on the squirrels, I believe. XD
First off, a news flash from last weekend -- Dale and N are girls. That might be noteworthy. However, after some research, I realized Dale can also be used as a girl's name, so we didn't change it.
As for N, of course we didn't have to change her name, but after looking back through Disney history a bit I remembered there was in fact a chipmunk named Clarice...so, technically, Clarice is her new name, but we still call her N quite a bit as a nickname.
Anyway, all that aside, the progress report is...progressing. Quickly. XD
It seems like every day there's something new about them, something new they're doing or some food they suddenly do or don't like. We expanded their exhibit in the bathtub a bit by adding some leaves and small logs to climb on.
Dale has begun trying to formulate an escape plan, which I suspect involves a grappling hook from the way she eyes the top of the bathtub. Clarice has become a little braver, which also means she's more stubborn whenever her siblings try to take a snack from her. xD Chip is mellowing out a little, and I think Dale has taken over as the queen of feisty. XD Yesterday she spotted the piece of avocado I was going to give her as a treat after she took the milk, but while I was refilling the syringe she bolted over and started gnawing on that instead. I'm like "Well, you're obviously done for right now XD" and put her back in the tub to continue feeding her later.
I feel like there's some big things I'm forgetting, but I think that covers most of it. Meant to post an update last week, but my motivation went and fell off a cliff for some reason so that's fun. xD

Yeah, I guess it kind of makes sense. I guess I just couldn't live anywhere like that because I'd be disobeying the rules all the time anyway.
We've cared for many stray cats, a couple baby mice, a few full-grown mice, annd... Well, when I was about 10, there were two beetles I kept and cared for until I released them in the garden, which, ridiculous as it sounds -- they were cute. XD
They ARE, they really really are. XD :3 They're definitely a handful at times, but it's worth it.
I bet. How long do you think you and you family will keep them?
They should be fully independent by 10 - 12 weeks, and we suspect they're around 7 - 8 weeks now. After they outgrow the bathtub, our plan is to move them into the (drained ) swimming pool once we clean it out, along with a nesting box or two for them to sleep in.

Yeah. I see. I think the only place where you can really take care of animals in a city is with a job at the vet, or an animal shelter.
Wow! You have a lot of experience in taking care of many animals of all kinds! Even the mice too. Those beetles sounded very cute, and probably pretty tiny as well. Have you been taking care of animals all your life?

Ah, that's very noteworthy. So now it's a dynamic trio with Chip, Clarice, and Dale. Two sisters and a brother.
It sounds like those three squirrels have a new adventure every day for you.
Ooh, now Dale is more aggressive now if she's the queen of feisty. A little more aggression and she'd be... the queen of mean.
I understand. I hope your motivation comes back soon! How have things been?

Mm...not exactly, but it's happened more times than you'd expect throughout the years. It's mostly been taking in stray cats, raising kittens once, >v< and nursing baby mice from time to time. This is a first with the squirrels.
Yeah, I guess it kind of makes sense. I guess I just couldn't live anywhere like that because I'd be disobeying the rules all the time anyway.

Yeah, and thinking about it more, there might be some sort of shelter where you could take wild animals to have them cared for.
Yup, the mice were adorable. They were pretty tiny. :3 I guess I have, actually, as long as I've been old enough to take care of them. We've always had at least two pets at a time ever since I was born, so I just wouldn't know what it's like to not be around animals.

XD Yep, I could start using that as a nickname for her. Now I'm just picturing her in a little crown and scepter parading around the bathtub...
Thanks. ^-^ I'm doing great, a little busy at times but haven't been too stressed lately which is nice. I don't know what's sucking away the motivation to post. How have you been?
