Hey y'all, I've been holding this back for so long, but here it finally is: A NINJAGO/VOCALOID CROSSOVER! Enjoy!
-prologue-
It was dark. The rain poured, which didn't help. Lloyd walked slowly, his tired feet shuffling on the pavement. Inhale, exhale. Inhale ,exhale. He breathed slowly and harshly in his exhaustion. He felt as if he could collapse any minute. But he kept going.
Finally, he gave out in an alleyway, and the only think that kept him from losing consciousness was what his head had hit when he fell. It felt like...someone's lap. Most likely female.
He rose, suddenly curious. The first thing he saw was unmistakably hair. Lots of long, aquamarine hair. But he didn't feel any dye. Then a petite, thin body buried underneath it, clothed in a tattered white dress...wait, was that an oversized T-shirt? Beneath her bangs was an unconscious face, her lips subtly heart-shaped and eyelashes full and feminine. He blinked.
Such an attractive face left Lloyd stunned a bit, but he didn't trust her. He stood up and began to walk away.
But something in his mind pulled him towards her. Not fate ,just reason. Why would he just abandon a girl in the street? He turned around and picked her up. Her skin was soft, her hair no coarser. Lloyd carefully lifted her and carried her home.
Lloyd got home relatively late from carrying the blue-haired girl. She was otherwise light as a feather, but it seemed as if all her weight was in her hair. He placed her down and watched her for a bit, to see if she would stir at all. No luck. Lloyd sighed. What was the use if she could very well be dead? He stood and walked away, before something occurred to him.
Lloyd went back and looked at the girl again. There had been some kind of marking on her right shoulder. He moved some of her hair to get a closer look.
01 | HATSUNE MIKU
“Hatsune Miku, huh…but what does the 01 mean?”
As if on cue, there was a ring on his doorbell. Lloyd opened the door and there was a package with a note on it.
“To whoever finds CV01- She’s all yours. Open the box.”
“What is she, a slave in some dystopian alternate reality?” Lloyd took off the note and opened the package. The first thing he saw being a black CD-R, he came to a startling realization-
She was a robot.
Okay, so it wasn't that startling. She had blue hair, and it explained why she was numbered and had the tattoo on her shoulder. He guessed from the letter that she was his to keep. But how would he take care of a robot girl?
He guessed there was some way to turn her on, to wake her up. He guessed it was the CD-R, so he located his computer and put it in. Immediately ,a program opened up.
VOCALOID - HATSUNE MIKU
Install?
"Yes."
Installing...
Installation complete.
Initiating system boot...
Lloyd turned to Miku, who was beginning to stir. He saw that her eyes were a lovely aquamarine like her hair. Why was he not surprised? She sat up and looked at him. He blinked. She slowly blinked back. She stared at him for a moment. He turned his attention away from the computer and approached her, touching her face. She touched his hand as if out of reflex. She seemed curious. She let out a small, vocal sound. "Ah-."
Lloyd looked back at the computer as Miku watched him innocently. He went back to it as she looked in the box.
"Hmm. Looks like you can adjust vocal parameters here...I think I'll set it this way...and here...that's good...yeah. She can sing in 3 languages and six other tones of voice? I'll take it! Download all." Lloyd turned around. "You'll be able to talk soon, Miku. It won't be long now."
Miku smiled cutely. "Ah-."
Lloyd chuckled and sat next to her, gently taking the box from her. As she watched, he pulled out a large bag from it, and digging through packing peanuts, he found something he didn't expect at all: a green onion?
Miku's eyes seemed to light up at the sight of the Y-shaped vegetable. She reached for it, wanting it. I gave it to her and she bit into it raw. I couldn't help but smile. She looked kinda cute munching happily on the juicy green veggie.
I was notified that the voicebanks had completed installation and Miku would no longer be mute. I turned to her. "It's done. Go ahead. Say something."
"Ha...Hatsune Miku...desu." (I'm Mi...Miku Hatsune.) Her voice was sweet and kind of high, like that of a very young girl.
"That's right," Lloyd told her. "Very good. Now, I installed an English voicebank to your database. Can you speak English?"
Miku blinked ,then after a bit of processing, replied, "Yes. Master has let me speak in English. Thank you. It makes communication much easier." I could hear a Japanese accent in her voice.
"You can also speak Chinese, can't you?"
"Shi de zhûrén. Xiexie," (Yes, Master. Thank you.)
Lloyd clenched his first in triumph. "Yes! It worked!"
Miku smiled. "I am glad it did, Master. Now that I can speak and sing, what shall we do together?"
Lloyd thought for a moment. "I'm hungry. Why don't we try making some lunch?"
"Not yet," Lloyd replied. "I was thinking more along the lines of going out."
"Hm? Going out to eat?" Miku wondered. "Should I change, Master?"
"Yeah," Lloyd replied. "Wonder why your old master dressed you in an oversized T-shirt and left you outside..."
"He rejected me," Miku replied, "and kept my clothes for his daughter."
"Well, that's...that's not very nice at all!"
"He was not the nicest person," Miku replied calmly. "He was a rich man, and a greedy one. He dressed me in fancy clothes and treated me like a princess, but I wasn't satisfied, so he threw me out."
"He really treated you like an object, huh?" Lloyd asked.
"Yes, if that is how you put it," Miku replied. "I am very glad I found you."
"Thanks," Lloyd replied with a smile. "Me too."
In a sudden lower, softer voice, she asked, "What would you do if you didn't want me anymore?"
"I'd give you to someone else," Lloyd replied. "Like my friend Jay, or his girlfriend Nya. They really love technology and they would appreciate your presence."
"You are kind," Miku said.
"Who sent the box?" Lloyd wondered.
"A gentleman named Cyrus Borg," Miku replied. "He must have seen you take me back."
"Oh, I know Borg!" Lloyd added. "But anyway...weren't we going out to eat?"
"Yes. My apologies, Master. I shall dress myself at once, though I doubt you have feminine garments in your possession...no matter. I can make do with what's around." Miku got up and walked to the closet. "What do you think, Master?"
Lloyd got up and looked through his clothes. "Hmm. How about this?" He held up a loose white shirt. Miku nodded.
"Hmm...and this?" Lloyd showed Miku a pair of black culottes that were a bit small for him, but would fit her.
"Yes," Miku replied, then bent down. "These shoes are nice," she said, pointing to a pair of black Converse shoes.
"You'll want to wear them with socks, " Lloyd said, holding up a pair of white socks. "My feet are kinda big but these should be comfy enough."
"You need not worry to dress me," Miku said with a smile. "I am capable of dressing myself." She then left to find the bathroom.
Miku came out of the bathroom. She had tucked her shirt in, and removed her pigtails, leaving her hair to flow down her back, long and smooth. Somehow she still managed to look charming, even though her clothes were shabby hand-me-downs.
Lloyd stood up and took her by the arm. They set off together for a moment, and then Lloyd stopped.
"What could be the matter, master?" Miku asked. "You seem...distressed."
"I need my wallet, and my keys," Lloyd replied. "Hold on a moment."
Miku nodded, and while he was gone, she hummed a melody to herself. She was stopped abruptly when she heard irritated yelling from Lloyd's apartment.
"MIKUUU! WHERE ARE MY KEYS!?"
Miku sighed, then approached him. "I thought we might take a walk," she replied calmly. "It's nice outside and you look like you haven't gotten much exercise or sunshine lately."
Lloyd looked down. Beneath his stained T-shirt, a bit of softness was beginning to show. He sighed and pulled himself up to the couch.
"It's OK!" Miku replied with a smile. "Everyone gains and lose their weight sometimes. You're not lonely anymore, so it should be OK for us to go on walks sometimes."
Lloyd nodded quietly. "It's not far, so it wouldn't be that exhausting." He placed a hand unconsciously into his couch cushion. "Oh. Found my keys."
"Please put them in your pocket."
Lloyd obliged, though a bit reluctantly. Miku extended her hand and pulled him up. "Now please change into another shirt. That one is dirty and not very presenting."
Lloyd groaned. He hadn't done his laundry in a long time. But he obeyed, searching through his clothes for something remotely presentable. He found a bit of green in the corner of his wardrobe and breathed a sigh of relief. It was an old shirt from when he was around 14; considering he hadn't grown much in the few years that had passed, it would probably still fit him.
Lloyd came out. The shirt was a bit tight, but it didn't hike up his belly or anything; the top had been loose when he first got it though.
Miku and Lloyd walked for a while before they got to their destination.
"Is this it?" Miku asked.
"Yeah. Chen's Noodle House. I used to go here all the time with my friends."
"Huh?" Miku asked. "What happened to them?"
"We parted ways. I had no choice but to quit my job. None of us have seem each other since, as far as I know." Lloyd breathed a sigh as he pulled the door open. The first thing he saw was the back of a girl's head, bright blonde and in a neat bob. Miku gasped.
"Rin! You're here!"
The girl turned around, revealing a youthful face with bright blue eyes. "Miku? Is that you?" Lloyd heard a Japanese accent in her speech as well.
"Yes! Is Len here?"
"He's sitting by Master Jay."
"Master Jay...?" Lloyd muttered under his breath. He looked over, and beside a blonde boy he presumed was Len, he saw a head of curly auburn hair. Jay was looking somewhat better than Lloyd, but still pretty melancholy.
"Jay?"
"Lloyd?" Jay looked up. "Is that really you after all this time?" Somehow his voice hadn't gotten any deeper after all those years.
"Yeah," Lloyd replied with a sigh. "Just going out to lunch. How have things been without the rest of us?"
"Lonely," Jay admitted. "But I've managed. I've spent time at the junkyard, tinkering and stuff. I'm sort of half-working on a robot."
"Cool," Lloyd replied. "How are your parents?"
Jay hung his head, a mixture of grief and shame plaguing his face.
"Oh. I see." Lloyd looked from Jay to Len, to Rin, then back to Jay. "Where'd you pick up these two?"
"I saw them near the entrance to the arcade. They were cold and starving, and I felt bad for leaving them there. We played together for a while and then went home where I installed their voicebanks and dressed them in more fitting clothes. How about you? Where'd you get-" -he indicated Miku- "-her?"
"I was taking a walk and I found her unconscious. I almost left her there but something inside nagged me to take her home. I have a strange feeling I won't regret it?"
A tall, attractive young woman walked by, her auburn hair tied in a knot at the top of her head. "Can I get you two anything?"
