These are just some backstories, bloopers, and short stories tied to Silent - Forgotten and the rest of the Silent series. Enjoy!
1 - The Real Story
-Hanna-
I dashed to the Bounty as five teenagers were all over me. I saw the sixth exit his room, and as soon as I saw him in the doorway, I gasped.
Zane Julien.
I inhaled sharply as I woke up, my eyes opening to an unfamiliar face, appearing to wear dreadlocks on his head, a small moustache adorning his face. "Welcome to the world...Tamil."
"Who...are you...?" My first words came out slowly and carefully.
"My name is Acronix," he replied. "I built you. And I'll take care of you."
"...built...me?"
"I'm technically your father." He touched my face. "Ah, this modern technology is wonderful to have given life to such a wonderful being. I'll teach you everything I know, Tamil."
It was ten years later when we were secretly terrorizing a peaceful town together with the time skills I'd learned from my father, and I lost Acronix in a crowd somewhere. I looked for him everywhere, but I got lost. Biting my lip, I called out to him, but he didn't respond. So I hid somewhere. Actually, I climbed to the top of a tower, where I hoped I could get a good view of the city...but I slipped. Considering what I was made of, the water I had slipped in wasn't good for my circuitry. I short-circuited rather quickly.
I let in my first breath again, and another unfamiliar face stared down at me. A man of considerable age, with half-moon glasses and one of the wildest hairstyles I'd ever seen. "Welcome to the world, Hanna Julien. May I introduce you to your big brother?" He took someone's hand, and walked a tall, white-clad young man out of the shadows. "Remember what I programmed you to do. Hanna, meet Zane. Zane, this is Hanna, your little sister."
"A pleasure to make your acquaintance...sister." The blonde bowed low to me, and I was confused. I hadn't remembered anything before this.
I bowed back. Looking in the mirror behind Zane, I studied my reflection. Icy blue eyes, pale skin, and platinum hair, just like him.
One day, my second father passed, his life stolen by illness, and all I could recall was Zane and I.
One day, when Zane was away, I had gone out to explore nature. I could actually touch the water, and the flora and fauna seemed to call to me. I had reached out to touch a gentle raindrop when it suddenly froze on my fingertip, toppling to the ground. As I watched, the wind began to blow recklessly around me, and clouds seemed to cover my body, and then it stopped, like the calming of a storm. A thin, elderly man, staff in hand and the longest beard on his chin I'd ever seen, smiled at me. "Hello there, young traveler. You seem to be in great confusion. Is there a reason you're out here alone?"
Still dumbstruck from the events, I didn't respond.
"Your power is greatly important, Hanna. Come, I shall show you how to use it." He gestured to nowhere in particular.
"I don't understand. What are you pointing to?"
"Oh. First lesson: move that fog, will you?"
I was confused, but I concentrated hard enough that the fog shrouding what Wu indicated was partially blown away. "A...monastery? Again, I am greatly confused."
"Just follow me." Wu sighed, pulling on my arm. "I have heard much about you."
"How? I don't even have a past."
"There are ways," he replied. "Anyways, my name is Wu. You may call me Sensei Wu. I run this place." He hit a dragon statue on a pillar. "Go on. Hit the button."
I gingerly pressed the button before me. An entire training course was shown before my eyes. "How?"
"Not how. Why." Wu walked to it. "A training simulation. You never know when you'll need it. After all, a ninja needs their skills."
"Ninja?"
"You will understand. Your elder brother is here as well. Why don't you go see him?"
I nodded quietly, going into a room stocked with bunk beds. Not only was Zane there, but there were two others.
The first was a tallish, rather muscular young man with skin almost as dark as soil. He had messy black hair, sleepy eyes, and a serious expression. I was hesitant at first, but he held out his hand, and I took it. "The name's Cole. Cole Hence. This world is dangerous, but I've got your back, okay?"
Confused at what he meant by "got my back," I nodded. A second student, in blue pajamas, nearly fell out of bed, but his slender feet managed to grab onto the ladder, followed by his smallish, thin hands. He brushed himself off, stood up, and looked at me. I noticed his untamed auburn hair, youthful face, and the freckles that were scattered across his light skin. He stuck out his hand in a friendly manner, and I hesitated. As soon as mine got close, I drew it back, an electric current shocking my finger.
"Whoops, heh heh. Static. Sorry." He drew his hand back. I noticed the high pitch of his voice compared to Cole's, and seemed to speak with a slight New Yorker accent. "I'm Jason, but you can call me Jay, and I'm just really psyched to be here, I mean, look at all this cool stuff! They have all these cool weapons (I especially like the nunchucks), and this whole automated training course? I mean-"
"Excuse him. He, uh...he has this...gift of gab." Cole chuckled.
"Sorry, I got a little carried away, heheh." Jay smiled at me. "Anyways, it's a pleasure to meet you...ma'am. Girl. Uh....whatever...what's your name?"
"Hanna," I said uncertainly.
"Hanna." He smiled. "I like it. You're training to be a ninja too?"
"Ah..."
It was around a year later when I recalled my past with Dr. Julien after my supposed demise at the Final Battle. Unlike Zane, I didn't react nearly as much. I hadn't recalled my past with the Hands of Time until now.
Through some study of my findings, I remembered how to control time. I heard Acronix had traveled 20 years into the future to build me. I tried my best to act normal, but I had these...instinctive impulses.
My first act was Nadakhan, as I had heard he could give me more information. I was disappointed when the Ninja had defeated him once more, and in fact, I was a little angry.
I had changed Jay's accent to a Pakistani one through language-time manipulation to prank him, but that didn't seem to be enough. They're still looking for me, as if I was family.
Looks like I'll have to go other ways.
