Lego is supposed to be the most popular toy company worldwide though...
Let’s be honest, if we see another construction toy, will we not call it a Lego rip-off? And just because something might be popular once, doesn’t mean it won’t crash and burn.
As we all know, the LMBs we all know and love is gone. There will be no looking at who got the top likes of the day anymore Also, the galleries, as of recent, have also shut down. This brings me to my question, OBVIOUSLY the Lego Site could be, going down hill (OPINIONS ARE SUBJECTIVE) but I want to know, why? And what does this mean for the future of the Lego site? Will it keep collapsing until the only thing that remains is the online store? Finally, do making these decisions benefit or harm the site in any possible way?
If you ask me, I'm not very educated on the subject, but I can predict why it happened and what is to come (i may be wrong though, its up to you to decide)
I believe the Lego company has decided to lay off staff members. As a result the LMBs were led to closure because the loss in staff members, the galleries soon followed and I believe that the galleries, throughout this year and the next, will be closing, also as a result.
Now, I also believe the Lego company saw profit in making a mobile app, whether it be extra advertising or whatever, the LMBs obviously weren't cutting it and they knew nobody wanted to join an app (did you really want to join lego life when it was released? lets be real here) so the LMBs were thrown out of the picture.
Now, this is my interpretation and I wanna know what you think, what do you predict happened and why?
Let's be real? I actually did anticipate Lego Life upon its release. My major prediction would be a huge assortment of ways to change my avatar for the better. It was a disappointment.
I heartily agree with Jonmbost - modern children are more interested in video games and movies. They don't want to waste time using their imagination, so Lego has drastically less appeal. (I also blame the school system. They spend the whole day filling their minds with mostly useless information, by the time the come back home, they either don't have time for it, or their minds are so burned out the only thing they can focus on is video games.) Toys themselves are beginning to die in general; most kids would rather buy from Steam than from the Lego Store. It's pretty sad. As a result, Lego can no longer pay for services such as the Galleries and MBs, so they just shut 'er down. Quite unfortunate.
If you go to the Wu-Cru section of the Lego Ninjago site you will find creations there... Wait, that's gone too. Is Lego Club Magazine still around? Or is that gone as well? It also appears lego is getting geared more towards children, the only themes for older people seem to be Technic, Architecture and Creator Expert... There is still a Technic gallery as of posting but I believe that will be gone soon. It seems Lego club has been replaced by Lego Life too. The webgames aren't as good as before. If you could play a mobile version of a lego game on the lego.com site; that would be awesome! So yes, I agree the lego.com site is going downhill.
also talking about their lego games on mobile, some of their mobile games are really good but they keep removing them from the app store and honestly its so annoying!
Why do they remove them? I remember playing Chima: Speedorz on my phone; that game was good!

There are already other construction toys on the market.
That's the truth. In September, LEGO announced the first economic DROP in 13 years, and slashed 8% of its workers. (1,400 workers.) The LEGO Ninjago Movie was a Box Office failure, ranking the lowest opening for LEGO by over 50%. In short, LEGO is losing its appeal to many.
Well, when you do the Ninjago Movie like THAT, you're going have some serious problems!

Yes Lego is going downhill. The LMBs are gone, the main gallery is gone, the Ninjago gallery stopped working yesterday...
There's more licensed themes then unlicensed. Cartoon Network acts like Ninjago doesn't exist unless there's new episodes. The design of the ninja has changed to match the movie. ( and those new ninja masks are ugly compared to old ones. ) Lego acts like us older fans don't exist anymore. They only show the creations of 6-9 year olds in the Lego magazine now. Anytime they take something down they point to Lego Life. The set boxes for Ninjago now have Garmadon on them instead of a ninja, which looks ugly! I MISS HAVING A NINJA ON THE BOX! The Ninjago Movie was bad, very bad... The new sets ( especially the Ninjago Movie ones!!! ) seem to have had drop in quality.
AND THEY KEEP PUSHING LEGO LIFE IN MY FACE!!! AND I WANT TO DELETE IT BUT I KNOW I SHOULDN'T BUT I WANT TO!!!!!!!

I have no idea! They had such good ninjago games too! :/

Everyone thought Lego Life was going to be this big thing, kinda sucked when it didn't.

Lego is not going to exist for much longer. Or it will and the site will become abandoned. And the glitchy lego life will DIE!!!! That anyone can foresee. The LMBs didn't deserve to be left in the dust of that...that app known as lego life!! So obviously it is not going to survive much longer.
Probably also because of how expensive their sets are..... just saying.
Just give it a decade or two...
Yeah, that sucked Don't fix what ain't broke is what they say
Oh yeah! Who has 100 quid lying around to spend on legos these days?
