I'm from the Philippines, and Star Wars movies usually do well here (well, for its first week at least, excluding TFA). TLJ just came back here last Monday and seeing how many theaters (or cinemas) are showing it, which are around 25, it seems like its final box office results here will be lower than TFA. TLJ at least showed for 2 weeks last year until being cut off from theaters (except for IMAX, 4D, and other formats) on Christmas. TFA showed for one full week and when it returned to theaters on January 8 of 2016, it was given around 5-7 more weeks of release as if it was a regular release or as if January 8 was its new release date, so I was able to have my second viewing of TFA 2 weeks (and 1 day ) later. Not sure about how Solo will do here though given that a certain X-Men stand-alone movie will show a week before it (and Infinity War's possibly "mega-weekend" just happened 5 weeks before).
Well, that is certainly very interesting, but I wouldn't expect Jedi to make as much as Force did ANYWHERE. TFA was a cinematic event. And, yeah, I'm not too sure how well Solo will perform anywhere compared to all the other Star Wars movies ever. I think it will most likely be the lowest-grossing SW movie in history (adjusted for inflation).
I didn't expect TLJ to outgross TFA either though. Would Episode IX be a cinematic event too though?
If it's a big surprise, then it would probably do good. I honestly still want it to be moved though.

I don't know, it really depends on a lot of things, but I would consider it that since it's the finale of the entire Star Wars saga.

You mean like moved to December?
Yup, though it would compete with Bumblebee and Aquaman (and another Peter Jackson movie; forgot the title). Perhaps August would be fine as its release date? It would break the "Star Wars release tradition" though.

Mortal Engines, and I thought it was coming out earlier than that. But yes, it would be, except in May there will be Infinity War. And they've already broken the release tradition once (by moving it from May to December), they could do it again if they really wanted. However, I'm pretty sure all future Star Wars films will be released either in May or December, obviously no guarantees, though.

Thanks for reminding me of the title. Pretty sure they said it's coming out sometime December. Infinity War will beat up (Han) Solo: A Star Wars Story even though a certain R-rated X-Men film will come out a week before the latter (which would also "block" Infinity War's records).
Not exactly though, since Star Wars was originally always released on May. Yup, I'm sure about that too.

No problem. Yes, I had looked it up and it is December, I just didn't know that before then. And I don't think IW has much to worry about when it comes to box office, it'll easily break records even with the X-Men film before it.
Yeah, that's what I meant, they moved it from May to December.

I'll be seeing it at home instead though since I'll be seeing Aquaman by that time. Well, hopefully. At least here in my country it has three weeks before that X-Men film comes out.

They moved Solo's release date?
Sorry, I just don't really understand what you were trying to say there.
No, I was talking about how with TFA the release date was moved from the traditional May to the December of the last 3 years. Solo is still scheduled for release in May.

Ah. Yeah, I'm still wondering why that was released on December instead. I can see that, and we have about less than 100 days 'till its release.

Oh, yeah, okay. I probably won't see ME at all since I haven't read the book. Maybe someday.
I think it was originally supposed to be in May but they had to move it, probably because of time.
