Back on the LEGO Message Boards last year, I wrote a story on the Scooby-Doo forum, and I thought I would share it with you all here. I'll post a couple chapters at a time. Enjoy! ---- Prologue
It had been two days since the grand opening of the new LEGO Store in the local mall. All was perfect and everything was awesome. It was 8:30 PM, and all the customers had left already because the mall was closing. Lots of LEGO had been sold within the last hour and it was time for the employees to restock.
The janitor had came in to dust off the giant LEGO statues and pick up every LEGO piece off the floor in front of the pick a brick wall. The manager came in and said, “Don’t worry, you go on home. I’ll take care of the rest of the store.”
The janitor said, “Thank you.” Picked up his broom and bucket, and left.
A minute had passed, and the manager was dumping some red 1x1 bricks from his hand into the highest shelf on the pick a brick wall, when suddenly, the lights went out, and the back door opened. He turned his head to the door, but didn’t see anyone but the door closing. He wondered what came in until he turned his head down. It was a short dark cloaked figure.
Initially he wasn’t scared, until the figure grew. It grew and grew, until it was as high as the shelf with the 1x1 red bricks. The manager began panicking, sweat dripping from the back of his neck.
The figure opened its red glowing eyes, and the manager screamed, “AHHHH”! He tried to back off, but he stepped on a 1x1 red brick and screamed again in agony. He fell on his back, and saw the dark cloaked figure standing and staring like an eagle. The manager continued screaming and he got up, and ran away from the pick a brick wall and out the front doors!
There was no one in the mall except the manager, the janitor continuing to leave, a man closing his cell phone store, and an AFOL with a LEGO bag containing an already opened LEGO Creator Detective’s Office. After the manager screamed, everyone else did, and they ran out the mall’s exit doors.
Chapter 1
It was the next day, and the gang parked their Mystery Machine in the mall’s parking lot.
“Come on Scoob! Let’s snack on some ham sandwiches!” said Shaggy.
“But you just ate lunch already.” said Velma.
“Well, like, that was more of a morning snack! Let’s go Scoob!”
“Scooby dooby doo!” said Scooby loudly.
“Now wait gang, we just came here just to get some pulleys from the hardware store for my new traps. Then we will get some lunch.” said Fred.
“Oh fine…” said Shaggy and Scooby disappointedly.
They were about to reach the hardware store, when they saw the LEGO store with yellow crime scene investigation tape all over and many policemen talking to the worried manager and three other people.
“Zoinks!” Screamed Shaggy. “I’ve seen empty refrigerators in the middle of the night, but not empty stores in the middle of the day!”
“Who could’ve stolen all these LEGO toys?” asked Daphne.
“Well, gang, it looks like we’ve got a mystery to solve! Let’s split up!” Exclaimed Fred.
“I’ll find some clues.” said Velma
“I’ll talk to the manager.” said Daphne
“And we’ll go get something to eat at the food court! Come on Scoob!” said Shaggy.
“Right behind you!” followed Scooby.
“Wait!” shouted Velma, but they had already left for the food court.

I found it! This is really good. I knew you would be awesome at this. Really glad this caught my eye.
Thanks! Glad you like it! I'll post some more chapters when I find some spare time.
“I was just restocking the 1x1 red bricks on the pick a brick wall, when a tiny dark cloaked figure came to me from the back door. I thought it was just a little boy playing a trick, until he grew taller until he was taller than me, then opened his glowing red eyes! I was so scared, I just bolted for the door unknowing what it would do to me! It looks like instead it just went for all the LEGO sets instead!” the manager replied nervously.
“Is there any security cameras or witnesses?” asked Daphne
“Yes, the police already watched it and they saw the whole thing, but they could not figure out who was the dark cloaked figure. They checked for fingerprints and footprints but the only ones were my hands on the LEGO bricks and my shoes running for the door. They did find three witnesses from the cameras around the mall.” the manager explained.
“Who were the witnesses?”
“The three men over there.”
Daphne walked to the three men who were surrounded by police.
“Yeah, I was just going to see if the LEGO Store was open so I could return this LEGO Detective’s Office! I can’t believe it’s so short for $160. Doesn’t look good in my LEGO city!” yelled one of them.
“I was closing my cell phone store, just ready to leave. Now let me go so I can manage my own business!” the second man yelled
“I was just leaving the mall after the LEGO Store manager said I could go.” said the third man quietly.
“Who are these men?” Asked Daphne.
“These men were seen from the crime’s security camera.” explained the policeman. He continued, “This one is Mike, who describes himself as an Adult Fan of LEGO, AFOL for short. This one is Ryan, the manager of the cell phone store across the mall. And this one is Richard, the mall’s janitor. All of their previous LEGO purchases have valid receipts and proper credit cards. These three and the LEGO store manager were the last people shown running away from the scene of the crime. Since there was no one else at the crime, these three men are our suspects.”
Daphne started thinking about their alibis.
Chapter 3
While Daphne was asking the witnesses, Fred and Velma were looking around the almost empty LEGO store and the back storage room.
“Wow check this out!” said Fred excitedly as he picked up a lone LEGO set from the floor. “It’s the LEGO set 70749 Enter the Serpent from Ninjago! There’s some good parts for lots of traps!”
“Seriously Fred, I thought you looking for clues.” said Velma.
“I was, Oh, look here, LEGO set 60052 Cargo Train from City! I could use the tracks for an extended trap!”
All Velma could do was face palm.
“And here too! LEGO set 75904 Mystery Mansion from us, Scooby Doo! And it’s got the parts for a cute Daphne Minifigure!”
Velma did another face palm wondering how they even got a LEGO theme of themselves.
“Here’s, LEGO Technic 42042 Crawler Crane!” Fred said excitedly as he picked up the set, only to be disappointed. “Hey, this box is empty!” Then he noticed something as he looked around the store room.
“From what’s left of the storage room, there’s many empty boxes of LEGO Technic and LEGO Mindstorms, but from the few that’s left, they’re unopened.” explained Fred.
“Finally a good observation!” Exclaimed Velma. “If there’s anything common about LEGO Technic and LEGO Mindstorms, it’s that they share the same building system of beams, axles, gears, and connectors. LEGO Ninjago, City, and Scooby Doo just use the studded bricks, plates, and minifigures.”
“Well, it looks like this builder wants to build something complex, like… a trap!”
Now Velma just wanted to bang her head against the Ninjago box, but she looked ahead instead and saw a clipboard attached to the wall. She walked over to it and observed it closely.
“This is a schedule of the next LEGO shipments.” Velma explained, “The first one already came three days ago before the grand opening. The next one will come tomorrow.”
Chapter 4
Scooby and Shaggy continued their way to the food court.
“We’re almost there! I can almost smell the ham sandwiches!” said Shaggy as they walked along the wide hallway of stores.
“Mmm, ham sandwiches!” said Scooby.
They walked at their normal pace, until Scooby’s left rear paw stepped on something sharp.
“RR-AAAA!” yelled Scooby, “Something is stuck on my foot!”
Shaggy kept going for a few steps.
Scooby jumped around several times in circles raising his left rear leg but holding it with his front legs. He tried to find what pierced his foot. He found nothing, but the pain kept coming. Shaggy didn’t understand.
“What Scoob?” asked Shaggy as he turned around to talk to Scooby. “It’s not like there’s a monster in the middle of the --”
Right as Shaggy was about to finish his sentence, he stepped on something sharp with his right foot. Even though he wore his shoes, it seemed to pierce right through it.
“ZOINKS!” yelled Shaggy. “THERE IS A MONSTER! A SHARP ONE!”
Shaggy and Scooby kept running back and forth bumping into each other, sometimes accidentally stepping on the sharp object again. They ran all over the hallway and everyone was watching them with an odd look.
They both ran into each other one last time.
“HIDE!” Yelled Shaggy
“RAAAAAA!” Yelled Scooby, and they hid under a bench.
Daphne, Velma, and Fred heard the loud cries and they immediately recognized who it was. They left the crime, ran to them, and found Shaggy and Scooby hiding under a bench. Both of them covering their heads and eyes and shaking in fear.
“Come on guys. What is it?” asked Velma.
“M- mmm--monster” said Scooby nervously.
“Can you describe it?” Asked Fred.
“S-small, t-t-tiny, sh-sh-sharp.” replied Shaggy, also nervously.
Daphne looked around, and she noticed a small grey object on the floor. She picked it up and showed it to the gang.
“You mean this.” Daphne said as she held the grey object close to them.
“Hey, I know this piece, it’s a LEGO 16 tooth gear.” said Fred.
Velma pulled Scooby and Shaggy from the bench and showed the LEGO piece to them.
“Oh, we were like, overreacting over a little LEGO piece.” Observed Shaggy.
“Yeah, you were.” replied Velma.
Fred continued. “What’s this LEGO piece doing out here? It’s not like people build sets as they walk away from the store.”
Daphne suddenly remembered, “The AFOL had a LEGO set in his bag, maybe he dropped it?”
“Great idea Daph!” said Fred. They went back to the AFOL who was still stuck with the policemen.
“It’s not mine, but I’ll take it!” said Mike the AFOL.
“No!” Said Fred. “But why isn’t it yours? It must’ve fallen out of your LEGO bag.”
“The LEGO Detective’s Office doesn’t need a 16 tooth gear. There’s a 32 tooth gear, but it’s not like there’s a mechanical function to go with it.” replied the AFOL angrily.
The gang became more puzzled.
Chapter 6
It was almost dinner time as well as closing time for the mall, and the gang decided to round up their clues and current knowledge of the crime to find out who it was. They sat at a table in the food court, which made Scooby and Shaggy extremely happy, as they had stacks of ham sandwiches two feet high! Daphne, Velma, and Fred lost their appetite after seeing the stack of greasy ham sandwiches. Everyone had already left including the police, the LEGO store manager, and the three suspects
“So, nom, like, nom, what do we have? nom.” asked Shaggy as he continued munching on a ham sandwich.
Fred spoke first, “Velma and I found a storage room with some LEGO sets remaining. The sets related to the Technic line have empty boxes, but the rest of them are unopened.”
Velma continued. “I found a schedule of the next LEGO shipments arriving and it looks like the next one is tomorrow morning.”
Fred spoke again, “Did you find anything, Daphne?”
“The creature we are dealing with is someone who can grow and shrink really quickly and not leave any finger or footprints anywhere. Our suspects are all regular human beings, so it looks like what we are dealing with is…”
“A m-m-monster!!” yelled Scooby.
Shaggy looked forward and suddenly became frightened. He dropped his ham sandwich and jumped onto Scooby’s arms and started shaking and grinding his teeth very quickly.
“Umm, that’s not what I was thinking.” Replied Daphne.
“If th- that’s not what you’re thinking, then like, what’s th- that behind you?” said Shaggy very very nervously.
Daphne, Velma, and Fred turned around only to find the dark cloaked figure behind them standing tall. It opened its red glowing eyes, and everyone screamed, “A MONSTER!”
(This is actually a chase scene, so if you want to, imagine the Scooby Doo theme music, or whatever chase music works with you as you read this part.)
This was the first time the gang had encountered the dark cloaked figure, and they were afraid, for they had never seen a creature or monster who looked like that before.
Daphne, Velma, and Fred immediately jumped out of their seat, and ran toward the right. Scooby and Shaggy were left at the table with their stack of ham sandwiches. They took all their sandwiches and ran toward the left.
Scooby and Shaggy ran into a clothing store with the dark cloaked figure following behind them. Once the dark cloaked figure entered the store, he could not find them. He searched all around and in between the clothes. As he was about to leave, he noticed two mannequins on the front window, one brown with a blue collar, and one with a green shirt and dark red pants. The mannequins smiled, and they ran and escaped! The dark cloaked figure now noticed it was Scooby and Shaggy in acting as the mannequins!
In another part of the mall, Daphne, Velma, and Fred find a hallway with three doors on both sides, all of them used as storage. They knew the dark cloaked figure was coming for them, and they all ran into the first door on the left. The dark cloaked figure went into that door.
Then Daphne and Fred, came out the third door on the left and entered into the third door on the right.
Then the dark cloaked figure came out the second door on the right and entered the second door on the left.
Then Velma came out the first door on the left and went to the third door on the right.
Then the dark cloaked figure came out the third door on the left, stopped in the middle, and chose to go back into the same door he came from.
Then Daphne came out the first door on the right, Fred came out the first door on the left and bumped into Daphne in the middle. They both went to the first door on the left.
The dark cloaked figure came out of the second door on the left, Daphne, Velma, and Fred came out the second door on the right and bumped into the dark cloaked figure in the middle. They left the hallway and began running away!
Scooby and Shaggy joined Daphne, Velma, and Fred as they ran out the mall, into the parking lot, and hid in the Mystery Machine. The dark cloaked figure did not follow them but stayed inside the mall.
Chapter 8
As the gang sat tired in the Mystery Machine, they continued thinking about their clues and their encounter with the dark cloaked figure.
“What’s strange is that the LEGO Store was already empty, and the next shipment is tomorrow morning, so why was the dark cloaked figure here?” asked Velma as she recovered her breath.
“Yeah, it’s not like there was any LEGO sets left to steal.” Shaggy added.
“It looks like the dark cloaked figure doesn’t want us here.” Fred said
“How will we catch him?” Asked Scooby
“I got it! Said Fred, “He will probably come back tomorrow night to steal the LEGO again, so what we need, is…”
Everyone immediately knew what Fred was going to say, and they finished his sentence, “...a trap.”
“Yes! Exactly! How did you guys know that?” asked Fred excitedly.
“We just know.” Velma answered with a straight face.
Chapter 9
It was now the next morning, and a new shipment of LEGO sets have arrived safely. The LEGO store manager and its employees had a successful day with no interruptions, although the manager was still worried. The gang came in the middle of the day to talk with the manager about their trap.
“We suspect the dark cloaked figure will come back tonight to steal your LEGO toys again, so we would like to set up a trap!” asked Daphne.
“Yes, wonderful!” replied the manager excitedly. “You will all save my store!”
They set up the trap that night at the LEGO store. The manager was with them too. They all hid outside the store where the dark cloaked figure won’t see them, but still could see inside to make sure the trap went perfectly.
It was dark inside the mall with only the lights from the emergency exits signs and some light reflected from outside.
“When is he coming? It’s been like, half an hour.” asked Shaggy impatiently.
“Shhh! He’s coming very very soon.” replied Fred quietly.
The dark cloaked figure opened the back door and navigated through the LEGO store towards the Bionicles. As he walked, he slowly grew taller and taller. He was a few feet away from reaching the Toa Kopaka set when suddenly, his feet pulled a hidden string!
The string pulled over an Ultra Agents UltraCopter vs. Antimatter set from above, and fell on the dark cloaked figure’s head! It didn’t topple him over, but the trap wasn’t done. The Ultra Agents set pulled another string that was tied to a LEGO wheel. As the wheel spun, it opened a box that spilled hundreds of minifigure heads onto the dark cloaked figure’s feet. The dark cloaked figure tried to walk, but slipped on the minifigure heads and fell to the ground. As he fell, he pulled another string that pulled out a LEGO Star Wars UCS Sandcrawler, UCS Slave I, and UCS TIE Fighter off of their shelves and onto the dark cloaked figure.
The weight of the three LEGO Star Wars sets held him in place and he couldn’t move.
“Yes! It worked!” yelled Fred excitedly.
“Congratulations everyone!” said the manager. “We shall see who has been messing with my LEGO store.”
The gang went inside the LEGO store, turned on the lights, and went to the dark cloaked figure.
“Now, who are you?” Asked Fred as he pulled off the cloak.
Almost everyone was suddenly surprised to see…
Chapter 11
… A LEGO EV3 robot! It was human like, and built with lots of black Technic beams, and inside was a complicated geared railing system to make the legs longer and shorter. There were 10 EV3 programmable bricks, and 30 motors in it. On the figure’s head, was an Ultrasonic sensor and a nightvision camera.
“I don’t understand!” said Daphne. “How could a robot be stealing all the LEGO toys?”
“Does that mean our mystery isn’t done yet?” asked Scooby disappointedly.
“Cheer up guys, I already know who it is.” said Velma
“WHAT!” said everyone else, including the manager.
“You solved it already! Well, who’s behind it then.” asked Fred.
“But like, how did you know it was a robot?” Asked Shaggy
“Oh please Shaggy, there’s no living creature that can grow really tall really quickly, so it had to be a robot.” Velma answered. “Bring him in please.”
The police came into the LEGO store and showed a handcuffed person.
“Ryan the cell phone store manager!” The gang said as they realized who it was.
“That’s right!” replied Ryan as he struggled to make his wrists comfortable in the handcuffs.
“But how, and why?” asked Daphne.
Velma spoke first, “Ryan built the LEGO robot and made it into a dark cloaked figure to scare the manager and steal the LEGO overnight. If there’s anyone who can control a robot, it’s someone who knows how to operate one from a long distance away, and Ryan, being a cell phone store manager and technician, used his smartphone to control it. The 16-tooth gear we found was also closest to his store, so he must’ve dropped it. Although I’m not sure why?”
Ryan answered, “It’s quite simple really. With discontinued LEGO sets increasing value per year, I had to get onto that investment train. But I only make a few hundred bucks a week from selling cell phones, so I can’t possibly buy a worthy LEGO set to invest since LEGO sets are so expensive! So I saved up for many LEGO Mindstorms sets to build a robot and steal all the LEGO. It worked so well, stealing an entire store very quickly! I could’ve been rich, but not anymore thanks to you meddling kids and that pesky dog!”
“That’s enough now Ryan, we’re taking you to jail.” said the policeman holding him, and they dragged him away.
“Thank you so much for your help.” said the LEGO Store manager
“No problem!” replied Fred “Anytime you’ve got a mystery, we’ll solve it, right gang?”
“Right!” replied Velma and Daphne.
“Where’s Scooby and Shaggy?” asked Velma
Scooby and Shaggy were in the LEGO store playing with the LEGO Scooby Doo Mummy Museum Mystery set.
“Wow, those LEGO designers did, like, a fantastic job with making minifigures of us!” Shaggy said as he held the Shaggy minifigure.
“Agreed!” replied Scooby “Hey, what’s inside this golden coffin?”
Scooby opened the LEGO golden coffin from the set and found a mummy inside it.
“RRAAAAAA!” Scooby Yelled.
“ZOINKS!” Shaggy Screamed.
“A MUMMY! RUUUUUUUN!” They both yelled loudly as they ran out of the LEGO store.
