I saw a few clips. Looks good so far. It’s a non-profit project so hopefully there won’t be any of those dastardly membership fees.
If they had membership fees, they'd be sued for making profit over a copyrighted game.

Hackers? That's not exactly why they'd shut it down. They'd probably hold maintenance on it until they fixed it.
I think they shut it down due to the copyright infringement they had to uphold and deal with. I believe, because of the lifetime memberships and many users buying that, and the lack of new users, they had very little money to keep the copyright on their game, so they had to shut it down.

I might've been there. I went to places that had buildings named "Pizza Hutt" and other cheesy names. I also went to this one house that had a cool tavern/inn... Maybe that was yours?
