Germany at this time was Prussia, ok in RP you are a person who plays a imaginary role, you can do things, in this one you can fight in battles, command ships, find treasure, stuff like that. You'll need to come up with a name for your character, he can have some basic equipment that a pirate might have. We are planning this roleplay, they have rules so nobody gets to overpowered, if you follow along it should be easy. rp actions just go like this *moves* if you wanted to shoot a gun say *shoots gun* Did I explain alright?
Yes, you did. I've done that kind of stuff before, but I never knew how to join LMB ones; they always seemed strict enough that I couldn't just hop in. Can I only join a RP if I'm part of the planning?
you can join anytime, partaking in this will get you a better place but isn't necessary .
Well, we should also probably start planning a list of topics/countries that are in this RP, and who has 'em.
Here's our current countries, and who has what.
Britain: Shamrock Portugal: Felipe seems to have claimed it. Spain: Coson Netherlands: 8legos America: TheFirstDecade France: Tweed Prussia: MockingbirdInc Russia: Metaknightfan4
This is the list of current players, and who has what country. Now, I put forward another set of questions.
1. Should we have a jail topic that most RPs have? Here, we would have defeated characters go to jail for a set time period, usually one 24 hour day.
2. Should our calendar have other effects other than deliveries from the motherland? For example, seasons and weather could add to strategy, but they may also give unwanted advantages. (Like the fact that Russia would practically be impossible to successfully siege during winter, thanks to the cold.)
3. Should we have a limit system to prevent groups from gaining insanely high amounts of troops?
1. Yes.
2. Possibly (I was under the impression RP would be limited to the Americas) )
3. If we use at least part of my system, then groups are limited.
2. I was thinking that this would cover the whole world. Though I may be slightly biased. Dutch east indies. And that would allow us to have much more pirate HQs.
Do we want to have some system of trade set up? Since trade was a large part of many countrys encomy, and would mostly be what the pirates are trying to disrupt.
also with these prots, lets try to make them real world ports, spain could get Vigo, ones like that Dutch Amsterdam, France has Marseilles and Boulogne su mer, Britian has many, plymotuh is one i believe, allhave ports, it would be cooler if they were real ones, what do you think?
Many country had a lot of ports, the Netherlands had them all over the world, including Jakarta the capital of the Philippines, and the cape of good hope, just as examples.

1. Yes, we should definitely have a jail.
2. Yes.
3.Yeah, I'd say so. It would make it so that rich countries could only get richer, and poor countries could only get poorer.
1. Agreed.
2. Well, what all should we do with the calendar? We already have motherland supplies and weather set up. Any other ideas?
Britain: Shamrock Portugal: FelipeDutra Spain: Coson Netherlands: 8legos France: Tweed Russia: Metaknightfan Prussia: Mockingbirdinc America?: Thefirstdecade Legobuilder has yet to claim a nation.
We're running out of nations of significance, and we've completely run out of 'power' nations. So if anyone else joined the roleplay, we'd be completely out of nations. From what I can see there are two ways around it:
1. Bend history a little so that nations that were powerful in a different time period have relevance. 2. Only use the most powerful nations and have multiple people per nation.
Personally I don't think 1 is a great option as history is one of the key aspects about pirates, but that's just me.
What are you guys' thoughts?
This is a problem. Some pirate players may still have plenty of freedom and work for a government, with a historical example being Sir Francis Drake, who attacked many a Spanish ship as a pirate, but was loyal to the English Crown. Something like that might help for players who want to have plenty of power under their command, but don't have a country to lead. As of now, are there any countries we need to consider deleting? I wouldn't mind becoming a pirate for a few crowns, if needed.

Use the five powers that were actually relevant at the time of the Golden Age of Piracy and have the others join up with them. Russia would have never been involved in the Americas. Same with Prussia. America didn't exist yet.
I'm playing as the sole Pirate captain. Anyone else want to semi-join me? At least provide some piratical competition? Also, I'll make a merchant-trader sort of guy as well to dominate the economy of the Caribbean.
Russia did have a minor role, as Spain formed the California colony to prevent Russia from claiming it. I might join in as a pirate, however.

ok guys, trade, we need it, and we need currency, which i think you'll all go for, we should have basic resources that you can get from your colonies, like rum, molasses, furs, etc etc. we should have a market topic where people buy and sell and trade at, somewhere like sicily or crete. as for making money i say we should have it the more ports the more income, we'll have a fixed amount per port, they'll have to be built with wood, another commodity to trade/ buy. we should get stone for forts which will protrect our territory, sea voyages will need to be decided, lets not make them overly long so we don't get soo slow stuff people get mad. we need ship classes, lets keep that under 10 types of ships, this is gonna be fun!
ps. someone can be the ottomans, ever heard of Lepanto?
Sure I'm sure! I can be Russia. They did have a minor role in our historic tales. After all, Spain made the California colony for fear of Russia. Besides, I won't have to worry about people attacking me in the winter, as shown by Napoleon's epic fail attempt.
he left to late in the year, you know about Napoleon eh? read war and peace yet?
Yeah he did. His army froze. Unfortunately, I haven't read "War and Peace" yet, but I really want to. I've heard that it's the greatest book of all time.

I agree; Only have the five powers: Spain, Portugal, Great Britain, France, and Netherlands. Then anyone else can play as a pirate, who can get hired by nations to do work for them.

Imagine Russia having Sunny California. Would be quite a difference for them.

Alright, we seem to be forming lots of ways to make money. Here's a complicated one. What about ransoms?
As we have seemed to have decided, a defeated fighter goes to jail. But what if, for example, Pirate Legobuilder DOES kidnap the daughter in Shamrock's group? Would she go to jail, or could Legobuilder run off with her and do as he pleases? If the latter, are ransoms allowed? This would create a way to make a load of cash, if the target is willing to pay. Any thoughts on if this would work or not? I'm not sure, thanks to the jail topic, but I thought it could still be brought up.
Here are my thoughts on calendar events: I like deliveries from the motherland, which would include money, materials, and what else? As for weather and seasons, I definitely think there should be weather and seasons. Seasons should be easy, just rotate them every couple of months. As for weather, I have a way of randomizing it, but what weather do you guys want? So far I have:
Clear Windy Stormy Hurricane
How often do you all want weather rotated, and what chance should each one have of appearing? What I'm thinking is:
