OOC: Oh, I thought this was the Inklings' HQ. Are Octoling soldiers allowed here?
IC: An Octoling with an enormous sword on his back walks by. He stops and looks straight up at the place where the other Octoling jumped, as if he can see him even from this distance.
Othaurus thinks out loud: "I wonder what he's doing here... exercising his limbs or tentacles by super-jumping all around?"

OoC: Natalie and August moved to Inkopolis, and are basically playable Octolings. Not sure about the other guy though. Also, August has been there for a little over a year; Nana moved fairly recently, a few months BRP.
"Yeah, I dunno either," August replied, switching to Octarian. " Maybe it's his first time. "
Natalie looked down and stroked her chin as if thinking. "Or maybe he didn't want someone to see him. He looked alarmed when he noticed me."
Jen leaned in, listening. After meeting Natalie, she wanted to learn Octarian to communicate better, so she wanted to get in on the conversation.
"I don't understand," she confessed. " Can you speak up a little? "
"Your accent sounds Inkling, but your grammar is so good," Natalie observed in awe. "It's a bit hard to believe you learned in only a couple months."
" It was studying books that helped me. I also think Octarian is a bit easier than Inkling in terms of grammar. Pronunciation is more difficult. But Inkling is still harder, I think. It seems as if our ancestors created a difficult language on purpose." She chuckled a bit. "Understanding spoken Octarian is probably the most hard thing."
"Oh," August replied. "No worries. I will translate. We were talking about some stranger, Super Jumping all over Inkopolis like an Octoball taking bath."
"You bathed an Octoball?" Jen bit her lip in amusement.
" I tried, " August replied with a chuckle. "I was only a kid. I wanted my new companion clean because he was dirty, so I gave him a bath."
"OK, what's the word for 'jump' real quick?"
" Jump. " (OOC: I like to think the word is a sort of onomatopoeia. Something like "katse" or "keste" should sound like a jump.)
"Ah. This man has only been seen by the four of us since earlier."
(So basically Nana speaks Inkling with a wider vocabulary but broken grammar; Jen speaks Octarian as if reading from a textbook, simple and formal. August speaks Inkling fairly fluently, with a few slip-ups here and there and a notable accent.)
Leonardo: "That's probably a good idea. Yes, contact Kyuru, if she's recovered from the attempted coup de'tat within her kingdom, that is. War can be psychologically damaging, especially if it's an unexpected war, brought about by people you trusted..."
Scribe: “Writing this down, sir!” -he said, quickly getting to scribbling it up-
Lorekeeper: “We need to being her back, she is a kind and wonderful woman. Although slow and cold, she is beautiful in her own way.” -he said, nodding-
(I had the weirdest idea about Aurie appearing out of nowhere, just happening to hear their conversation. Cause, you know, she hears literally everything. )

-Suddenly, Agent 7 makes a very bad landing, only one foot made it on a ledge, and with him falling, yeowch thats gonna snap a bone... if he had any, since he was an Octarian. But he screams and ends up falling a block or so down to where Otha is-
Agent 7: “EEEEYYYAARRGHHHH~~!!!!”
Othaurus: "Heh."
Othaurus, after quickly plugging chi, draws his huge sword and holds it out in front of him, just before Agent 7 comically lands on the wide flat of the blade.
Othaurus: "Hope I didn't break your back, my friend. I've never really been good at catching people with my arms. Heh-heh!"
OOC: WOW, it was a while ago that I'd posted this. Whoops.
Turtles' POV: Piratox roars: "TYRON! I DEMAND A REMATCH! A ONE-ON-ONE DUEL BETWEEN WARRIORS, TO END THIS RIVALRY FOR GOOD! A TRUE KING WOULD AGREE TO THIS PROPOSITION. WILL YOU, OLD FRIEND? OR PERHAPS YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF YOUR TITLE?!"
Tyron: "Fine. I shall meet you on the doorstep of my castle for this fair duel, Typhoon: "Wait, Your Highness! Like you said, something's not right!"
Tyron: "I know. If Piratox has a treachery planned, I'll retreat into my shell, and you bombard the spot of the duel."
Typhoon: "Understood, Your Majesty."
Saleem's POV: Saleem: "I'm still waiting for your decision, your highness. Will you do the right thing and surrender, or will I have to reluctantly attack my own future castle? Obviously, there will be less casualties if it's the former, wouldn't you agree?" TheFirstDecade
-suddenly, Saleem could hear some hisses from below-
Skales: “ALASSSS, I HAVE FINALLY FOUND SSSSOMEONE WHOM ISSSS LIKE ME!!” -the lovely blue Hypnobrai screamed out-
Acidicus: “HEY, DOWN HEEERREE!!!” -another Serpentine hissed out, the Venomari jumping a bit-
-Meanwhile, in the Snake Pyramid, Sa’Qhala looks out, very worried in fear-
Sa’Qhala: “Oh d-dear... wh-what will i do...? Wh-where’s Flygarra’s military?!” -she says, very confused and scared-
-Meanwhile, The Pygmy Owl’s military is slowly approaching Saleem’s position. Owlina must’ve have gotten a emergency transmission from Sa’Qhala...- -meanwhile back with Tyron, Typhoon, and Piratox...-
-A lone young adult Torterra was watching this unfold from the rafters above them, a teenaged Female Torkoal and a male Young Squirtle watched as well-
Torterra: “Hey look guys, we’re about to see a fight, fellas.” -the Torterra young man said whispering, pointing to Tyron, Typhoon and Piratox.-
Torkoal: -in a raspy dry voice- “This may be fun ta see a fight between sum two water types.” -she snickers, looking very intrested in this-
Squirtle: “KICK HIS BUTT, TYPHOON, GOOO TUUURRRTLEESS~!!!” -the little kid says, screaming it out at the top of his lungs, the other two gasps and try to cover his mouth, hoping not to be seen-
Torterra: “Shut up, squirt! We only snuck in here to explore and we had just walked in on this!”
Saleem's POV: Fulcrum: "My Lord, there appear to be owls approaching our right flank from a few miles away."
Saleem: "I see. All ships, prepare your right-facing laser cannons."
Saleem looks down at the shore of the wide river, seeing Skales and Acidicus.
Saleem: "Hail, fellow snakes. Do you, too, wish to remove Queen Sa'Qhala from power?"
Turtles' POV: Tyron walks out in front of the city.
Piratox: "No need for any more words, Tyron. Ready yourself."
The two duelists draw their swords, and circle around each other briefly, before erupting into battle. It's a furious and fast battle, surprising for people of Tyron and Piratox's ages. Just two animals, with one royal sword each, no chi, no other weapons. Eventually, Tyron succeeds in taking off Piratox's arm... only for it to fly through the air and reattach itself like a magnet.
Tyron: "What in Cavora... What have you become, Piratox??"
Piratox: "I don't blame you for being surprised. Heh-heh-ha-ha-ha! As you can see, Tyron, you can't win this duel! Oh, and did I mention it was a duel to the end, in every sense of the word?!"
Tyron (clashing swords with Piratox): "It doesn't have to be, Piratox. There's a way for this duel to end with both of us alive."
Piratox: "What are you taking about?!
Tyron: "I expected something like this, Piratox. You didn't think I would have a trick up my sleeve, in case?"
Piratox: "What?!"
Tyron: "The Turtles earned this not long before you invaded us once more. We figured we wouldn't need to use it yet."
OOIC: Imagine the Avengers theme playing now.
IC: Tyron suddenly pulls a glowing silver orb of chi out of his robe's pocket, quickly plugging it. His clothes are immediately transformed into brilliantly shimmering white and silver Snow Leopard robes, with gold shoulderpads and highlights.
Piratox: "Ice chi?! No—!"
Tyron lunges forward even as Piratox jumps backward, striking Piratox's sword with an ice-cold blade. The Ice quickly spreads up the piranha's arm, and over his body.
Piratox: "NO! I'M SUPPOSED TO BE IMMORTAL NOW!!! I'M SUPPOSED TO BE IMMOR—!!!!"
The piranha's words are cut short as he's completely frozen over.
Tyron: "It's unfortunate that I had to cheat with special powers, but it's only because he did as well. Piratox, in the name of the Turtle Tribe, I declare you a prisoner of war."

Natalie and August watch in interest, Jen and Dan occupied in their own worlds. August speaks up.
"I've never seen that kind of sword, my friend! Where did you happen to get it?" he shouts to Otha.
"They both have swords," Natalie muttered to herself in Octarian. "Perhaps there is still influence from the rest of Chima in this place. That's interesting. I have only known how to use ink-based weapons."
"Talking to yourself again, Nettie?" August asked.
"Ah. I am sorry. I am saying the thought currently. I will stop to do that."
"You have no need to speak Inkling to Octolings, you know," Jen added.
" Ah. That is right. I have forget. The month in surface has mess my brain. "

-Agent 7 gotten up and sighed, training his eyes on Otha. He shook his head and dusted off his white-grey gradient Kimono and quietly draws his Inktana, known as “Zatoinkchi”-
Agent 7: “The moment i draw my divine chi-infused inktana from it’s sheath, it cannot be sheathed until it has drawn the blood of my enemies... and i see you, a fellow octarian, before me.” -he sighs and looked
“I shouldn’t harm my own kind, i’ve been independent for so long now, free from being a sleeper agent of the Octarian’s Regime, free from being a employed hitman for the Squidbeak Splatoon. Thus i pose the question to you...” -he said, squinting at Otha, the agent’s red irises seem to brighten as he squinted-
“Who is my enemy, and why are they my enemy?”
(OOC: As a side note, i wish there was Ink Swords in Splatoon, a separate melee class from the brushes and rollers, you’d have all sorts of sword styles from European Medieval to Shogunate Japan Katanas and whatnot, to Sabers from the American Civil War and pirate cutlasses. )

Othaurus sheathes his sword.
Othaurus: "I'm afraid I can't answer that, friend, because of how inconsistent alliances are. Your ally in one war could be your greatest enemy in the next. Unless you're speaking in philosophical terms, in which case I suppose everyone's enemy is fear, or lack of conviction? Maybe."
Othaurus turns to August.
Othaurus: "To answer your question, I found this sword during my scouting missions. As for the exact location I found it, that's... classified."
OOC: Maybe in Splatoon 3, which, side note, I hope will be on Switch rather than the next Nintendo console.

(OoC: For me, something that helps me write a foreign language student is remembering my own mistakes as a student of Japanese. Some of my own mistakes can translate into foreign dialogue, but I feel others can't. I can also use aspects of Japanese grammar in the hodgepodge attempt to write Natalie's broken English. Also, ink swords would be cool!)
IC:
"Since A- er...someone sacrificed herself to overthrow a corrupt corporation, there hasn't been a single war going on," August replied, "except the Turf War battles that are treated as sport and a way to make cash, which is their currency." (I like to think Octarian doesn't have certain words that they have to learn later, such as "cash" and of course the use of "fresh" as slang.)
"But the Turf War isn't a real war," Natalie added. "It's for fun, and creates little more than rivalry."
Jen nodded. "As for now, the closest things we have to real enemies are the Salmonids."
Though Dan did not understand, he assumed through context what they were talking about. "The Octarian Army has been inactive since Age- er...justice was served once again to their leader."
"I worry we may meet new enemies now that our borders have opened, though," Jen replied. "Guess it's time for our invisible little hero to come out of the shadows. I wonder how that'll turn out..." She seemed like she was trying to cover her nervousness with a thoughtful front.
Poking out of her bag was what looked to be part of a headset, and traces of lemon yellow were seen under the blue towel she had attempted to use as a cover. (The Jbatonmaster500 Invisible little hero, eh? )
"It seems the conversation has reverted back to Inkling," August noted. "However, Dan, you do not speak Octarian, correct?"
"Not a word. Sorry." Dan shook his head.
"So Inkling is more commonly known, yes?"
He shrugged. "Apparently."
"So Inkling is perhaps the language we should be sharing between each other," August replied. "I will teach you Octarian, however, and then we may use this language as a secret code when talking about private things." And so I don't have to carry on annoying people with this accent... "Nettie, you will be okay with speaking Inkling while we are among these people, yeah?"
"Yes," she replied. "I am understanding. I do not find the nervous in speaking a language of the friends."
"You mean you don't mind, right?"
"Um...yes. I do not, ah, mind. We were to splatting Salmon, no?"
"We have more than four people though," Jen replied. "If they're interested, we'll have to temporarily break up the gang."
Natalie's eyes widened in surprise. Break up the gang? What did that mean?
"Oh, it is OK if I step out," August offered. "I will be alright. I do have things I want to check out at the local shops after all. I have the cash on my self anyways."
"I'll step out too. I have...homework, and stuff." Jen stepped back. "Have fun splatting some angry fish while I'm gone."
"Dan?" Natalie asked, looking up at the straight-haired Inkling. "What is to...'break the gang'? Is hurting?"
"Oh, what she means is, uh..." Dan thought for a moment. "We might need to leave each other for a bit to make room for our new acquaintances here. An acquaintance is someone you know but you're not quite friends with them yet. And no, it is not hurting. It's just a bit disappointing because you don't get to see 'em for a bit. You understand, right?"
"Mhm. I will be out?"
"You don't need to step out. I'll opt out if someone comes in at the last minute."
