*Dragen, at the rear, continues to be wary and lets the others talk to the man.*
The man walks towards the group, hands behind his back. He walked toward the three in the front, Elowyn, Retnuh, and Oliver, and replies to Elowyn's question. "Simply travelling by, though I noticed you're escorting a royal..." He looks inside the carriage the royal family was sitting in and continues to speak. "family, I see." He smiles calmly. "Where are you heading, anyway?"
"We are going to the village of Hochbestal. If you don't mind me inquiring of you, from where are you from? "
Ardanar transfers his cane to his left hand, and takes the glass in his right. "Thank you." The Count takes a sip before replying, "Oh, nothing in particular. I was visiting an acquaintance but was knocked off course."
"Oh? And who was this acquaintance?"
"No one of concern." Ardanar's grip on his cane tightens slightly.

"Ah," he nodded. "I'm from the northern parts of here, northeast of Hochbestal. The hold I'm from is Vercheinberge. It's where the snowy mountains are. If you plan on heading there, be warned: the snow hardly stops, and when it does, it's worse the next storm." He says, almost darkly. Before anyone can respond, he continues on his way.
"No one of concern." Ardanar's grip on his cane tightens slightly.
"You sure about that? You look a little nervous." He frowns. "My apologies if I seem intrusive." He adds hastily. He then turns his head to the door as someone walks in.
The door opens to reveal a man in a green, gray, and brown hood and cloak. You can't see his eyes and only part of his nose with his hood over his head. Under his cloak you can see part of a short throwing knife and a long dagger. Over his shoulder is a strung bow and a quiver over his right. He walks toward the innkeeper and where Ardanar is sitting.

*Rotrude had been listening in on the conversation, albeit secretly, when the figure entered the tavern* *casually, she finished her drink and dropped a few coins on the bar before hopping off the stool and gathering her gear* *she headed towards the door, casually glancing up at the mysterious figure as she passed*

OOC: Good thing I checked my account today.
As the Halfling passes by, he quickly stops her, a little awkwardly with the difference of size, and quickly brought her outside before anyone made any reaction.

Elowyn moves with him, coming to stand between him and the carriage. "I see no reason to tell you, given the vagueness of you own explanation. Please step away so that we may continue."
OOC: Please take back the response to Hunter. This took a while to get through moderation.
IC: He backs away from the carriage quickly. "My apologies, Miss. I'll be on my way." He begins to walk away (you can decide to stop him or let him go - I left you guys with a bit of a choice).

"Thank you." Elowyn turns back to the carriage to make sure it's ready to continue on its way.
OOC: Someone else could talk to the man to stop him, but Elowyn will not.

*I just stare at him walking off* Wow, what I nice guy!

OOC: Yeah, that's reasonable. If anyone wants to, reply to this post (I'm giving everyone 24 hours).

*as soon as the two of them are outside, Rotrude doesn't look at the figure directly; rather she examines her surroundings for either other people or a possible way to escape in case this goes south* *she clears her throat* "Do you need something, sir? I'm a very busy person and it's late." *she grips her staff tighter and her body is ready for a fight or flight move*
