The expression on his face is almost how I think my own expression looks after reading some of these parts. Plus it's ironic cuz he's got cat ears.

Thank you! Despite the darker, more disturbing tones I may be bringing into this story, I think this will be rather more cheerful than Uncle Tom's Cabin.

“Zane, get Jay in here and lock the window.” Liana stood by and listened in bewilderment as Cole and Zane eased Jay inside, helping him down to the floor so he could catch his breath. Cole shut the window quietly behind him, glancing out for any sign of the cats before drawing the curtains. “OK, Cole, you’d better tell me what’s going on here right now. Uncle George is going to completely lose it if he finds three guys with me in my room.” Liana frowned as she set her hands on her hips. “Who are these two, anyway?” Jay gave her an odd look. “What, you don’t recognize us? Can’t you see who we are?” “Actually—” She pulled out a flashlight, clicked it on, and shone it on her face coolly. “—I can’t.” “AUGH!” Jay recoiled at the sight of the six white scars across the girl’s eyes, disfiguring her face and blinding her for life. Zane’s eyes widened, but he said nothing. “Jay!!” Cole flashed him a dirty look and hissed. “Be quiet! You’ll bring the relatives in here—!” “Liana?” A voice called from outside the bedroom. The group froze at the sound of footsteps coming closer. “Are you all right?”
