Well, I think we should note that Wu, Iron Doom, all of the Vermillion, the Time Blades, and the Time Twins are stick in a time vortex that can go to different points in time. That means, they could each end up at ANY random event in time, not to mention cause some time anomalies.

Since they have to be child friendly, Wu will probably come back and not get smashed. On a happier note: ITS NINJAGO! So if Wu dies he should come back as Ghost Wu!

It's perfectly kid-friendly for a character to get smashed (Do we have to use that word anymore?), as long as it doesn't involve any excessive violence.

Well, it's still possible for a character to die and not return. It doesn't look like we're seeing Sensei Garmadon again. The Ghost Wu theory is pretty good, but they've already used the ghost concept before, so I don't know.
I hope where Wu and the Time Twins end up has a huge significance in a future season. I honestly wouldn't mind if Wu wasn't in Season 8 because it would allow Lloyd more time to develop as a Sensei Master. I hope it isn't anything like episodes 67 and 68 though, because Lloyd made me cringe so hard.
