First, there is the music, from old songs like Greensleeves to Elgar to more modern music like Brothers in Arms. Second, I like tea and other foodstuffs such as Pudding, Full English Breakfast, Worcestershire Sauce, and the mix of food from other countries the British went to. Another point is that there are many great British Authors: Tolkien, Lewis, Shakespeare, etc. There is also the art styles that developed, even if partially, in it. Particularly in the Victorian Period.
And finally (although it is a bit political), the British Empire. A country that conquered and colonized a quarter of the world and it's population definitely gains my respect and admiration. Therefore, it is placed high in my list of respected countries. But old respected countries. My modern list of modern respected countries is, almost empty.
