So, the first order of business: is it a Napoleonic Wars RP or an Age of Piracy RP?

Napoleonic Wars
The Napoleonic Wars (1803–1815) were a series of major conflicts pitting the French Empire and its allies, led by Napoleon I, against a fluctuating array of European powers formed into various coalitions, primarily led and financed by the United Kingdom.

An RP set in this time period would simulate the massive Napoleonic Wars, with players each leading a faction on one of two sides and fighting against the opposing side in battles.

Pros - Grander scale, more strategy, possibly more factions.
Cons - Would require many RPers to work well. At least two are required to play as France and Britain, but a better RP would include Russia, Prussia, and Austria as well. There are a multitude of others as well, including Spain, Sweden, and the Ottoman Empire. Would possibly be overwhelming, with battles taking place all over Europe and Northern Africa, and the seas surrounding them.

Age of Piracy
The Golden Age of Piracy is a common designation given to usually one or more outbursts of piracy in the maritime history of the early modern period. In its broadest accepted definition, the Golden Age of Piracy spans the 1650s to the 1730s and covers three separate outbursts of piracy. The colonial powers at the time constantly fought with pirates and engaged in several notable battles and other related events.

And RP set in this time period would simulate the battles between the colonial powers (most likely the English, the Dutch, the French, and the Spanish) and various pirates. It would have much more opportunity for roleplaying rather than large-scale fighting, although there is room for that if the colonial powers decide to start a war. Mechanics for reinforcements from the mother country could be worked out as well.

Pros - More roleplaying, more open-ended (You could play as a pirate and raid ships across the Caribbean or simply sell your ill-gotten goods in a port like Jamaica, or play as a local governor and squash the piratical scum with your mighty navy.)
Cons - Has the potential to be more complicated. I'll get to that in a later post.

I think it should be age of piracy.

Hey I really want to Join, Napoleonic stuff is my favorite stuff, I have studied it thoroughly and would love to do it with other people. I know pretty much all the Historical stuff so if you want to know anything about it I might know, Well am I in?
