I've seen a few of these sorts of things on youtube, and while I don't personally have the parts for this kind of thing most of the ones I see really blow my mind. Have any of you guys built this kind of thing? www.youtube.com/watch?v=fM9qGZCc4DY

This topic is dead. Technic isn't really that popular.

I used to have a lot of pieces to make Lego technic stuff but my dad said that the legos were taking over the house so he made me give a bunch away. One time my brother and I built a lego sawmill out of a mixture of regular bricks and technic. Technic bricks were used for the gears and things to turn the saw. It was really cool. I have also built a lot of other contraptions with just technic bricks although some times my rubber bands would snap on my creation. I once made a pull back car with lego technic bricks although the bands I used to make it go snapped.

I'm allowed as much LEGO as I can buy as long as I keep it all in my room and clear it when my parents do cleaning . All the other times it tends to be a two-inch-deep sea of your feet's worst nightmare . Once I made a flywheel energy-storage device that could spin gears at 60,000 RPM (yes, you read that right, 1000 times per second) and shoot beams at 60mph. Unfortunately it wrecked one of my clutch pieces.

That sea doesn't sound like a nightmare to me... more like a heaven of pure joy and imagination! What have you done with your flywheel? And did you ever post a video of it in action? He always said he would get like a table dedicated to Legos... never happened. Whenever I built something I would sooner or later have to tear it down (unless it was a set of course ) because I had no place to display it.

My parents are fine with my hobby as long as it doesn't take over my life and start affecting my grades. Plus it's taught me tons about mechanical engineering and has made me want to become an engineer when I'm older. I never display my models . The need to work on the next creation is too great. I build, play, film, take pictures then salvage the parts.

That's what I do now. I just take pictures of my creations and keep them for future reference. I thought it would be cool to be an architect. But I most likely become a lawyer.

I can't even fathom not being allowed to pursue my hobby -- no matter how high-maintenance it is. ._. Tell me about it. It's absolutely terrible. But on the bright side of things I still have a few Legos left so I work mainly on upgrading original sets by adding all what I think they need. My brother has started learning how to do more brick and technic crossovers. He made an amazing Batmobile by building the sides out of Technic beams. I still don't know how he thought of it.
