"Gaaaah!" Cyrus suddenly felt an excruciating pain in his head. An intense throbbing that wouldn't stop and grew more painful with ever second that ticked by. If left like someone was ripping him from the inside, pushing and forcing their way into places it shouldn't be. His hands grabbed his head and he screamed in agony.
It wouldn't stop.
It wouldn't stop.
It just kept pulsing and pulsing in a never ending rhythm. This agonizing pain.
"We could have avoided this Cyrus....we could have avoided all of this." Tolin said, while shaking his head.
"Have you found the location yet?" Tolin turned back to his men eager to get this over with. "Almost sir, I'm close, but I'd advise we stop soon. His vitals are getting increasingly unstable...unless you plan to.."
Tolin waved his hand. "No, of course not. I'm not going to "get rid of him" if that's what you mean. Let the man live, just make sure he doesn't remember any of this when we are done. He has connections to the ninja. We don't want him contacting them and telling what we are doing. Not yet."
The Doctor nodded as he stared down at his tablet with Cyrus's vitals. He was still unstable, but alive and thankfully for him, they had found the location of the prototypes.
"Tolin, I have them. They're in the basement of this building, a hidden underground level. There is a password you must put into the elevator to reach it. I have it here."
Tolin then rubbed his hands together."Well, done Doctor. You finish with Cyrus then repair this window. We want to make it look like we were never here."
Tolin stepped into the elevator, and two of his men followed not far behind. "When, we get down there I want you two to scout the perimeter. I'm assuming since this place is supposed to be hidden that Cyrus is the only one who knows about it, meaning no live guards, but just in case...I want to be sure." Tolin explained as both men loaded their weapons. He then typed in the revealed code and stepped back as the elevator began to accelerate downward at rapid pace.
"Look alive boys...this is going to be fun." he said. The men exchanged glances, both wondering the same thing about Tolin's version of...fun.
After about three minutes the elevator stopped with a sudden jolt and opened displaying a room with metal walls and door in the front. There was no sign of guards from what they could tell and the room seemed empty. No sign of security cameras either which was very...interesting.
"Sir should we use the precision laser to open the door?"
Tolin nodded. "But make sure to be neat...I want no visible damage on this door."
The room was dark and cold. There was moisture in the air and Tolin could tell by the smell that this room hadn't been used in years. Just perhaps a few storage visits here and then, but nothing more. It reminded him somewhat of HQ in a way. The similar fragrance, the similar feel.
"Sir, I've scanned the area. There are no life signs or cameras detected anywhere." One of the guards replied as he lightly tapped a digital panel on his suit.
Tolin nodded in approval and both men began to scavenge through the pile of lost creations and tech. He thought a man like Cyrus would be a little more...organized with his inventions. The lack of order in this room was quite ...riveting. Tolin was known to be a man a chaos, but even so, his personal living quarters and office were always spotless.
"I have a question Tolin..."
Tolin turned around promptly at the sound of his name. "Yes, what is it now?" he demanded, evidently slightly irritated with the interruption of his thoughts.
"Um, well, we really don't know what we are searching for ...exactly. How do we know we have found it?"
"You'll know when I tell you that you have found it. Just keep searching until you find something presentable." he responded.
There were tons of unusual builds and small items in this room. Some probably of value and others no better than trash itself. Regardless of that, Tolin still kept searching. He wasn't leaving here without the item he wanted. Not when he was this close.
And as luck would have it, his quest for his prize was short lived and painless, for in the midst of a small scrap pile something caught Tolin's eye. It was a very large box, multiples of them actually, each labeled with the same three letters...
Quickly, he made his way to their location, eyeing each box carefully until he gazed over one labeled "Model 15". Dust filled the air instantaneously when he opened the box, but the item was still intact. He moved his hand over it to remove the pile of dry powder that accumulated. Doing so made the metal face of this object quite visible.
Engraved into the arm of this item also was the word "P.I.X.A.L" and under that it read "Prototype Model 15". This model was special for reasons unknown to most and it was exactly what Tolin was looking for. Her markings were slightly worn from years in storage, but that could easily be repaired by his men.
After noticing that their master had left them, the two men went to go see what Tolin had found. They were both perplexed to see him lift a body out of one of the boxes.
"An android ?", one began, "Wait, she resembles-"
"The female android on the ninja's team?" Tolin said, finishing his sentence. " Yes, I am aware of that. It's one of the reasons why I wanted her. She's perfect." he paused. "Or she will be once we reactivate and upgrade her."
"Sir, that's genius! Do you plan on using her to get information on the ninja?"
"Ah, ah ah. Patience ...I do have something in mind, but that shall be discussed later." Tolin explained.
He then lifted the female android over his shoulders and motioned the men to put the box back. He had what he wanted so now it was time to get out of here and start wave two.
In full honesty, Tolin really wasn't worried about the ninja, at least not yet. He was still a step ahead of game for the time being...a game he hoped to win.
They might have not known it now, but soon...soon they would.
Something was coming. Something was changing. Something was happening right before them. Hidden in the midst of them something was rising.
And it would be beautiful.
Tick… tock goes the clock, I’m going to light the matches.
Tick… tock goes the clock, A fire burning with passion.
Tick …tock goes the clock There lies a pile of ashes.
Of brokenness...of trickery, Burning lies and fantasy.
Friends or foes, No man may know.
What lies ahead can fool them all, Only the strong may survive the fall.
Man, this was one of my absolute favorite stories on the old boards-- glad to see someone's keeping it alive!
And Brickgirl, if you're still out there and by some miracle happen to see this, you're still amazing and I'd love to chat again sometime
JayZX535?? Whoa, I didn't expect to see you here! We've never met, but I remember seeing you in Brickgirl's stories, the two of you talking and you cheering her on. I-- I don't know if you're still online here or not, but it's good to see a familiar-looking username.

The old MBs are missed by all of us, to be sure. Wow, my heart did this crazy jump or something in my chest when I saw your username -- I thought you were one of those users who were gone for good! 0.0 How have you been -- y'know, since the LMBs shut down and the Great Migration took place?

Ugh, life. . . it has a habit of doing that. Hopefully those directions it's taking you are good. I've been all right, thanks. My family and I are visiting the States to be with family for several weeks. It's nice to officially get to meet you.

I've kept in contact with a few people, but unfortunately not too many. I'd definitely like to get back in contact with a lot of my old friends if I can find them again, heh.
