One odes not simply watch FOTR when your stupid blu-ray player stops playing most blu-rays and you only have the Extended edition on Blu-ray so you have to watch the....*shudders*....theatrical edition.

*Cries*
Confession: I have never seen the Extended Editions. *hangs head in shame* They are top priority on my list of movies to watch, though.

Here are some highlights:
The entrance to Hobbiton is extended, with Bilbo "writing" parts of the prologue concerning Hobbits, which reads over The Hobbits Hobbiting.
More Sackville Bagginses.
A Song in the Green Dragon.
Frodo and Sam seeing Wood-elves.
A little of the Midge water marshes.
Frodo overhearing Aragorn sing about Luthien.
Aragorn and Elrond at Gilraen's grave.
Gandalf mentions Thorin's coat being worth more than the shire.
More Lorien (including the gifts!)
Gollum on the Anduin.
More Emyn Muil.
More of Merry and Pippin with the Uruk-hai
Eomer finds Theodred at the Fords of isen.
More Treebeard and Fangorn.
Flashbacks to Faramir, Boromir, and Denethor!
And so much more!. And, that's not even at ROTK yet.
By the way, did you know that Jed Brophy who plays Nori in the Hobbit, had multiple small roles in LOTR?

Yessssssssssssss, thank you! Now I'm even more eager to watch them!
Also, I know there's an extra scene before the Fellowship leaves Rivendell, some scene where Boromir and Aragorn are talking in a cave, and the "negotiations" with Saruman in ROTK, except Saruman dies in the movie.
But many of the things on the list are things I wished weren't absent from the films. Knowing they're in the EEs makes me very happy.
