That's alright. But like I said, Solo's at least enjoyable. I like the criminal/heist movie concept but they could've done better imo. No wonder why it bombed at the box office.
It bombed for numerous reasons, not because they could have done better IMO. TLJ made a lot of people mad about the direction SW was heading so they've refused to see Solo, others seemed just fatigued by SW, others doomed Solo from the start because apparently, only Ford can play Solo but I fail to see how you could have had Ford play a young guy.
I think if TLJ wasn't so divisive and the release was pushed to a quieter stretch it could have done way better.
I didn't say the "they could've done better" part is why Solo bombed. But yes, Star Wars lost some of its fans after TLJ and the release of Solo was close to it. I think its late marketing was also its problem. In here, Solo was at third place in its opening weekend and by my estimations and assumptions, made almost how much TFA and TLJ made on their first day and probably also how much Rogue One made on its third and/or fourth day. Not even showing the trailer before Infinity War, the most viewed film of all-time here in my country in just six days, brought back its fans for another Star Wars movie.
Another possible reason why Solo flopped is because of the so-called "boycott". It most likely also isn't the reason why as it's very childish but considering how divisive TLJ was, that's still possible. And the worst-case scenario is that the Star Wars fatigue is possibly coming already.
That's because it's a cinematic event. I don't like including my country here but its trend here in its month of release was like as if some big event happened; however, I'm guessing 10-20% of those who saw Infinity War here just joined the bandwagon. In fact, in my second viewing, a girl beside me kept asking her seatmate (not sure if it's her brother or husband or whatever), "Who's that?", in scenes involving characters that are "not-so popular".
