At the moment, yes. I don't have one but am not willing to pick one up in case the PS5 has PS4 backwards compatibility. I own a PS3 though... (Still haven't got all the trophies for all the games I own yet...)
What's PS4 backwards compatibility? My brother has a PS3.
You are able to play PS4 games on PS5 for example...

You can't play PS3 games on PS4 though... By inserting a disc for example and letting the game play.

My brother got his PS3 used and the disk thing doesn't work anyway; he just gets the free games from that store or buys some he really wants. I wouldn't pay for them myself, but he does.
