Both country's are a part of the UK. Or he could be talking about KK.
*My inner geography nazi kicks in*
Currently, Ireland proper is its own country, entirely separate from the UK (politically). They own most of the island of Ireland. However, the north-eastern part of the island is owned by the UK, forming the state of Northern Ireland. MLB lives in NI, so, while he lives on the Emerald Isle, he is a citizen of the UK, and not of Ireland.

If you'll excuse me, my car is running out of gas, I'm going to go park it in the parking lot and look in the trunk to see if I have some extra.

Ok, so he does live in Northern Ireland. Well, then, yes, he is British. Sorry for the mix-up.

Master, share with me your geography genius!
Sure. Start like I did, by having a World Map hanging on the wall of my room for the past ~12 years.
The day of prosperity makes one forget adversity; The day of adversity makes one forget prosperity.

But NI isn't it's own country, it's part of GB/the UK. Ooh, memory trigger.
In the state geography bee, the officials always began by laying down some guidelines, rules, etc. One of those rules was that things must be referred to by their proper name. The officials would then go on to say this:
"For example, it is incorrect to use the term 'England' when you refer to the 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'. However, it is acceptable to use the terms 'the United Kingdom', 'Great Britain', or just 'Britain' when you refer to the 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'."
Like, who actually refers to the UK as the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland"? It was also somewhat funny 'cuz it never changed. Each year, they rattled off the exact same speech, verbatim. It got a bit repetitive pretty darn quick.

What are you talking about, I've always called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
