Film music is made to reflect what's happening in the film. So you're not really hearing it in the way the composer intended until you've watched the movie. However, plenty of film music is outstanding just on its own.
Yes, but the mark of a great piece is that you can listen to it outside of the movie and enjoy it. And you just can't do that with the rogue one soundtrack.
Well, in a way, that's a good thing. If I were Giacchino, I wouldn't want to "overstep my boundaries," so to speak, since John Williams is still alive and as long as he is, it's his series as far as the music goes. If you want to listen to some of Michael's more impressive soundtracks, I suggest you listen to his Pixar scores like Inside Out, Ratatouille, and Cars 2. (Yes, I know Cars 2 isn't the best, but the music is quite good.) And Jurassic World. I know he's also done some Star Trek and Dr. Strange, but I haven't heard those myself.
Does anyone here listen to NF? I doubt it, but I really love several of his songs. The lyrics are incredibly deep.
Who is NF?
He's a Christian rapper. I generally dislike rap, but his is really good and the lyrics are so powerful. Granted, it isn't music you'd just listen to for fun or anything...it can be kinda depressing at times, but if you're just feeling thoughtful or whatever it's really good stuff to listen to.
OMG, Body Like A Back Road jumped to number 6 on the overall charts:O! That is insane, definitely the highest since Cruise! Could it pass Cruise and reach number 3?
