I thought you said you hadn't seen any of the movies, how do you have such extensive opinions about the soundtrack???
Anyway, I think the reason is he was trying to respect John Williams' work and do justice to it, while at the same time incorporate just enough new music to make the film work.
I haven't but I do listen to the soundtracks.
Maybe,. It's just not as good IMO.
You're not getting the full experience unless you hear it in the movie.
I can understand liking it much less if you just listened to it without watching the film.
