So is VI, and Rogue One. A lot of people hate on the prequels for not living up to the originals, but I think they're fine. Not being as good as Star Wars IV, V, and VI does not make them bad. And VII is okay too, good enough to make me excited for VIII.
Well, I was saying that at least those two were amazing. I didn't mean to say none of the others were very good, some of them are.
I have mixed feelings about VI. The Jabba stuff is good, and the Emperor and Battle of Yavin scenes are excellent, it's just that the Ewoks bring it down for me.
I did like Rogue One. It was very good, personally thought it was considerably better than VII.
I don't hate the prequels, really. Well, maybe I and II, a little bit I do think III is far better than they are though.
I'm not a big fan of VII. I thought to many of the ideas were way to close to IV, or various expanded universe novels. However, the technical quality and acting were very good, so I hope VIII will be better.
John Williams music, of course, is surpassingly* excellent and amazing throughout.
*Yes, this is a word, spell-checl/
Wow, those are basically my exact opinions on all of it. Except II, I actually like it a lot more than I, the only part that brings it down in quality is the bad writing of the romance scenes.
It's actually fine. No super-memorable new themes, but it does justice to the original music and the new music is good enough to work with the film. They didn't have a title crawl, either. They broke a lot of Star Wars customs, because it was a standalone.
Its just not John Williams, and it doesn't sound like a real star wars soundtrack. It sounds like some one else trying to do star wars. Its not bad its just not great.
I thought you said you hadn't seen any of the movies, how do you have such extensive opinions about the soundtrack???
Anyway, I think the reason is he was trying to respect John Williams' work and do justice to it, while at the same time incorporate just enough new music to make the film work.
