Or worry about other things. I'm applying for the NSF GRFP so that's another annoyance to deal with. At least I'll be able to adapt a lot of this material to my grad school applications. I don't enjoy writing.
I was able to go to Montreal for a conference because my advisor has an NSF grant that covers undergrad support. I was kind of sad that I didn't get the chance with corona this year. Hopefully sometime soon again.
If I have most of the pieces and I like the set, I'll try to get what I need from Bricklink to finish it. I have some odds and ends of this one Blacktron I set and it resales for like $40 but I can get the pieces I need to finish it for like $25, so I'll probably do that. For some other older sets the pieces I don't have far outweigh what I have, so I'll probably just buy the entire thing at some point. It's my goal to collect most of the old space sets and display them.
Oh, I see. Got some essays to write?
That's pretty cool. You must've been the youngest one there. Hopefully the spread of COVID-19 starts decreasing soon. Yep.
That would be nice. Good plan, hopefully you will be able to acquire those pieces pretty easily. A display of all of the classic space sets would be pretty epic. Got any classic space themes you're looking to display first?
Yes. Unfortunately. At least there is a writing group for it.
Yes, I was the only undergrad with a poster, I think. Add that on top of the fact that I'm a year ahead in school for my age.. I might be graduating in January to take advantage of free tuition in the spring because of a scholarship I'd qualify for. Hopefully I do, I want the flex of graduating university at 20
I already have most of Ice Planet, Space Police I, M-tron, and Blacktron II. I'd like to complete those collections. I have some Blacktron I and Space Police II, so I'd like to complete those as well. I'm uncertain about Futuron and Classic space, though I definitely want more UFO and insectoids - I have a bunch of pieces from both themes but not enough to build any sets yet.
Also, I was wondering what you think about using some BIONICLE parts in the frame for the spaceship. The standard torso pieces are pretty large, and all those technic holes make them fairly compatible with technic and in turn regular system. I have a lot of bionicle, and only so many technic beams, so it might help me maximize size while preserving structure.
Yep. I've got an umbrella that unfolds inside out.
You mean like a KAZbrella?
Just searched up the KAZbrella and yeah it's pretty much functionally the same thing with how it works, though I think mine was made by a different company.

That's good, you can get lots of help to make sure it's just right.
Wow, that's pretty incredible. Wow, even possibly the youngest in your class. That will be awesome, hopefully you'll get that opportunity to graduate early. I should be getting my Masters by the end of this year assuming I've done all the classes I needed to do.
Ah, very nice. Looks like you have most of most things in the Classic Space collection. Hopefully those won't be too hard to find on Bricklink. There may also be people trying to sell their LEGO Collections, though that will be harder to come across.
Integrating BIONICLE parts would be interesting. If there is a way to do it, then I'd definitely encourage it if you can fit it in. What's really cool is that you can use the ball and socket joints to get pieces into unconventional angles as well as strengthen the frame.
