I wonder if I'm the oldest MBer still active...I know you and RuleJJ are around my age. Maybe we should swear a pact to both log on when we're 33.
I thought you were a couple of years older than me. By our honour, sir, the boards must be kept sporadically alive! Finding Friendships
I don't know where I got the information, but I thought you were closer to my age. TBF I don't know how old Con is, but surely he's older if he has a kid. Finding Friendships
Regretfully, yes. When they study the first game of 4x4 tic tac toe in the history books little distinction will be given to the fact that I did not in fact understand how to win.
Ah yes, the classics. This is the exact reason I never read many. I think I'll circle back to them then, I have another series I'm in the middle of right now.
It's good to know that future generations of young people will be forced to learn of your folly and my triumph.
Fair enough. What would that be?
Surely ours will not be the chapter of the history book the teacher chooses to skip due to time constraints.
The Kris Longknife series, I stumbled across it. It's military science fiction, and really well written. I'm getting to be a fan of this genre. Finding Friendships
That sounds about right. With a username like that, the man is destined to go places. That'd be cool, you could impress a lot of young'uns by working there. I can't remember if I've asked you this...what are you doing now?
Yup.
Me...is a long story. Basically I did some university but betwen covid/incometent management/etc didn't really work out, but I've been able to switch to a different place (which is mostly distance learning/internet and is actually pretty amazingly well run ) to do the rest of it. Then I'm doing some part-time work in a museum (I'm studying history and will probably do something with that in the long run) for practical experience which has been great. So definitely unorthdox but it seems to be working out. Finding Friendships
Unorthodox seems to be name of the game right now, glad you found a path that's working for you! Working part-time at a museum while studying history sounds like the perfect combo. What kind of museum you working at? Finding Friendships

How could they? The children will be clamoring for us! They will stand on their desks and demand the story of the 4x4 tic-tac-toe.
Interesting. Not my cup of tea, but it's cool to find something you're really excited about.
Oh ho, no I haven't, but I shall 👀 Absolutely not. I love dandelions. They're icons, they're legends, and they tick off landlords. They're punk icons.
Yay, it hasn't been taking off like new topics used to here.
They're a foot tall again the day after I mowed.
You know it would have been the most happenin' place here for like six months if it were four years ago. I've been trying to watch a lot more movies lately ngl! I've become very interested in obscure and foreign animated films in particular, so I've been looking around at what people talk about and checking out some films I never would have years ago.
My grades I finished my junior year this week and I'm pretty stoked about that
Ayyyo, killing it! What are you studying? Finding Friendships
Communications, plus I'm doing an English minor. The stuff I'm studying is a wide mix of marketing, journalism, and cultural studies. Apparently the need for positions like PR and social media writing are in high demand right now, so I might be doing the smart thing and getting experience in stuff that'll pay off later.
Things are.., good? -Ish? It's finals time for me and my friends, and I've been constantly on the go for like four weeks straight. I'm actually about to begin writing my last paper of my junior year after I catch up on my chain posts here. The thing is that I need to get an internship this summer in order to graduate next year, and I was getting my hopes up for one because the woman who interviewed me seemed eager to have me help out with graphic design, but today she emailed me and said that all the job positions are filled up. So now I'm back to square one and it's really stressing me out. ( o _ o')
How about you? It really has been a hot minute.
Oof. Good luck with the internship hunting
Where do I even start? The last month or has been a rollercoaster. My grandma's been in hospital having surgery that went wrong and turned into even more major surgery - she's doing loads better now and was moved to a recovery place on Friday but I was basically running on stress/worry for a fortnight. Then things have been crazy busy at work so I've been doing extra shifts, and with everything else going on I'm behind with a couple of final essays, but I'd been planning on writing them early so I still have a couple of weeks to focus on getting those finished. So I just have to sprint through the rest of this month then I can collapse for a little while Finding Friendships
Thanks! I failed. Although I have some contacts who might be able to help land me a good autumn internship.
Oh my gosh, that's awful! I'm real sorry to hear that. I hope your grandmother recovers soon and with little pain. :/ Gah-LEE, that's a lot. Careful you don't pass out from all that running around. Good luck on the final essays! Starting early is always such a lifesaver for me, too. My friends always wonder why I never pull any all-nighters like they do.
For Homecoming every year the dorms race bedframes on bike wheels across town. I got to run one leg of it my sophomore year.
*your chair squeaks as it connects with my face*
wHAT. that is AWESOME?? I'M JEALOUS I'm going to submit that as a suggestion for next year's Homecoming. The fact that our school sits on an enormous steep hill with sharp turns will only make the race better.
