Mine are more like 10 minutes. About three songs long. And no, the emphasis is mine.
For the longest time I was planning on having much more focus on W.A. And C.W. there was going to be a lot of territory covered on their past and things from their point of view and I think I reflected that a bit in chapter 15 but I started to realize that it wasn't fitting in very well as I went.
I was also planning a similar thing between Essa and Drarkie, but it didn't ever feel right to focus on them.
♠Bonus fact♠ Thaddius Diastemer was added literally as I typed the chapter when he first appeared. I felt KK needed a more slightly human side, and maybe to add more deepth to him and his life, so he wasn't a lone bad guy. He has family and a past, he's grounded.
One thing that I REALLY wanted to happen that failed to work into the timeline was the idea that Nexo had a checkered past with the law, including being part of/running a gang. Hence the "Ex" in his title and Nathan morphing into Nexo. If there was ever a sequel I would definitely want to explore this side of him.
I was very sad when I didn't get to put in a deeper explanation of the Fourth Wall part of this story. And the connection between the powers, their world and ours. I wanted to explain Nexo's comment about Lilly's skin in the chapter where they first met. But sadly this also didn't fit in. This would also be strongly considered if a sequel were to appear.
These two things were probably the ideas I hated cutting out the most.
In the first drafts, Lilly (@l3g0sh9pp3r) was supposed to be much more mysterious and detached. Kinda all powerful and elven like. But very quickly I realized that Nexo needed her to be more real and tangible. Kinda to help guide Nexo through the change that assults his life.
And of course KK everyones favorite baddy. I very clearly knew that I wanted KK to be very Ra's al Ghul influenced. I didn't want a super brutish villain, I wanted him to think and to plot and to threaten and manipulate people. And I think that turned out pretty well all things considered. Though in the first drafts he was much more obsessed with his version of destiny and almost fanatical with his point of view. But I actually grew more fond of the later version of him.
♠Bonus Fact♠ Fealon was the only character that asked to be put into the story while I was writing it. He too was not in the original cast, but when asked to put him in….well how could I resist.
Essa was planned to be the Leader of the Fourth Wall team, but I never got around to officially making that clear in a chapter, and I found that as they traveled together the teens drew on each other and shared leadership. And in the end it made them stronger, less limited and their skills were rounded out better.
Like I mentioned I really wanted to explore W.A and C.W. to really get inside their heads. I still kinda wish it could have worked out. But maybe in another story someday.
I surprised even myself when King and Sweet didn't show up as often as I had envisioned. They were supposed to be in much more but that part of the story sorta digressed as the W.A and C.W parts diminished.

I was (probably way too) proud when I reached my goal. I was determined to include, as close as I could, all the quotes created in the trailer. This was quite a heavy order for me considering that I sat down one day, typed the trailer and then asked myself why I typed something that I had no story to. Like not even a character or scene. But I must say, I received enormous relief and gratification when I actually completed this task. Though I surprised myself.
I made an outline about eight chapters in. And it wasn't the most epic on at that, but for the sake of art and science and all that rot I'll copy it into here.
Outline I. The First Third of the Book a.Chapter One b.Chapter Two c.Chapter Three d.Chapter Four e.Chapter Five f.Chapter Six g.Chapter Seven h.Chapter Eight II. The Second Third a. Damian, Fealon, Simon, and Essa begin in depth sleuthing about KK. (12) 1. The warehouse 2. Nexo's House b. Nexo meets Essa's team. (13) (boundaries) 1. some rivalry and suspicion c. second chap. And C.W.) get involved slightly. 2.Danny asks Essa for progress on her case. e.fourth chap. (16) 1. Soe saves others by giving himself up. I usually don't either. Great writing normally takes the form of me sitting down and staring at the blank screen for anywhere from 1 to 30 minutes. If anything happens at all. The Ree is the main one we have in the scenes but she doesn't like doing tricks like meowing on cue so Ben does those parts. He's also more agile so he does some stunts as well. Smile Ben!
