Not really an important part of SOPO history, but I was going to post badges and got carried away with the storytelling.
In days of old, SOPO's founder, His Beardedness Yolo-Swaggins I, established the activity ranking system. The only rank any member qualified for at this point was Elder, and he designed the badge: >SOPO ELDER<
This badge was only ever used by WOD, however.
As WOD subtly took over the recordkeeping (having been doing so long before his appointment as Advisor), he also began designing badges for the other ranks. The activity ranks were all the same color scheme, but he crafted different ones for military and special ranks. But for whatever reason, he never shared (or even used) his designs.
Until now.

History of SOPO Society War I: The War to Start All Wars
November, 2013. SOPO was gaining traction rapidly under the guidance of Yolo-Swaggins, the skill of Bee-boy11, and the weirdness of Fotr1. Future legends Weirdoofdoom and Milbro0813 had just joined. Our message was spreading, and naturally, was not taken well by many.
The first user ever to create a SOPO parody came forth: Dk0395, with SODOO (Society Of the Destruction Of Orcs). "If you don't like what the SOPO are doing", you were encouraged to join them in their crusade to eradicate the evil sevents of Sauron! (Wait, "sevents of Sauron" came years later.) This, combined with the promise of the first four applicants becoming generals, caused newer users to hop aboard relatively quickly for that period of the Society Age.
(Fun fact: WOD, then an amateur dupe artist, successfully infiltrated their ranks. :3)
The young noobs at SOPO were outraged, but the leadership remained calm. War wasn't engaged for a while after the society was founded, but when Yolo led is into battle, we hit them hard.
In the space of a few days, the entirety of SODO's two active members, DK and Starwarssisters, both abandoned and joined SOPO. However, more users joined our enemy, including established forum user Penguin_. Penguin took over SODO, mostly for the fun of it (as he himself admitted). Milbro and Khamul8 shone during this period, establishing themselves as valuable members (though Khamul would later be afflicted with scandal).
After a couple weeks, an impasse was recognized by both sides. Ambassador Bee and Diplomat SWS drew up a peace treaty, which demanded agreement to disagree on the subject of Orcs. Penguin and other members signed this without argument, and the first and greatest Society War came to a close. SOPO is considered the victor.
Relations between the two would remain warm until SODOO's decline into inactivity within two months. Yolo personally invited them to our first Christmas party. To this day, SWI is what all SOPO veterans think of as the ideal war.
