They manage to fight their way forward to a point where they can see Alpida facing off against a gray-haired man wielding a broadsword and a hammer.
Karthon held by the bulwark, calculating the man's skill and might in battle.
Seeing him distracted and Alpida clear he threw a knife aimed at the man's upper torso,
A Xain soldier charging at Karthon and Dubhan takes the knife as more attack them. When the line of sight is clear once again, they are able to see that Alpida stands triumphant over the man, as she asks for his surrender. Suddenly, a ball of fire form one of the wizards collides with Alpida and she topples over the edge of the ship.

"NO!" Karthon shouts as their leader tumble over the side. He fought his way through pain and foe to where the Grayling fell, yet the man saw no sign of their ally.
I thought that woman we met earlier was dealing with the spellcasters..? He mused to himself.
He searched about for the fireball's author while holding out against what remained of the Invaders.

Dubhan fights by his side.
As the thinks this, a shape drops out of the sky, grabs the wizard, and flings him overboard. Several other Xains are swept over the side as well in the process. Natasa calls out, "He's escaping!" Karthon sees the gray-haired man making his way over to a row boat tied to the side of the ship.

After their newest ally makes her move and alerts them of the Xain leader's escape, Karthon takes his shortbow and nocks an arrow. Carefully lining up the shot through the violent sprays of the sea, the wanderer looses and the arrow struck it's quarry: the rope holding the boat to the ship.
He hurried across through the fray as the row boat came loose, dangling by it's one rope.
As the leader came by Karthon intercepts him with a strike that sent him to the ground. "Surrender." He said pointing his blade at the man's neck.

The man glares up at him. "Never." He grabs Karthon's blade and pulls it down. He is smashed.

With that done, Karthon withdraws his sword and takes in what remained of the battle. Many Xains were left, yet without someone to command them he realised the battle would soon be over.
He then remembered Alpida, and fearing her dead Karthon fought this battle to avenge her falling.

Sure enough, the Xains on the ship are in disarray. Natasa lands beside Karthon and Dubhan. "I'm sorry I failed to save your friend. I didn't realize one of them had turned his focus away from me. But come now, we must take this news to the others. They will be much heartened to hear of it."
