Valithor would grumble a little bit, melt the ice with a weak spell, and keep going.
If it comes to a drawn-out magic battle, Demiu would win. Valithor and Harfor are wizards that can only use New Magic, making them weaker than Demiu, Darthraxx, Drake and Amararth, who use Old Magic as well.
Harfor Is only a half wizard, though he's sort of treated as a full. I just found out now that he isn't really supposed to be able to do higher than tier 3, though he's participated in tiers 4 and 5.

Since when are all weapons made of Magic Resistant Material? Also, if the spell targets the area around the sword and not the sword itself, it could still get frozen in a block of ice.
It's part of the backstory. But to sum it up: While we were fighting the Bear Knights, Xavic lost an arm. So Drake took him to get a new one, made from a special metal only found in Kalhtrain. This metal is meteoric in origin and possess the strange ability to resist magic, there was little left over from the making of the arm so they made two swords for Xavic.
So. . . only Xavic's sword and arm are made of magic-resistant material.
Tul Generas of the Orcs, Darthraxx of the dragon Knights. I RP, and have lots of fun.

Although Old Magic isn't much use unless you have time to prepare. Then again, I can just use a spell to deplete the enemies Magic for X days, and use those X days to either build an Old Magic defense, or to destroy the enemy with lightning/sword/Old Magic. so yeah, Old Magic actually might be a huge advantage. If you know how to use it right.

Intrigued, Karthon applies his free-running skills to quickly scale a nearby two-story building for a better look. His eyes locked on to the ships as he reached the top. If only I had a spyglass. He thought, and mused over what the fleet might be for.
He drew his short-sword from it's scabbard mounted upon his back and tested it's sharpness, and sighed when it did not even mark his hand. Such disrepair was purely the fault of a lack of supplies, to which he had found none from his last point of residence to here. He needed to find a weaponsmith, he realised. But where? He was new here and this land was unknown to him, and feared he hadn't much time to prepare for any dangers he may soon face...
The ships are strangely still. It almost seems as if they're empty.
Intrigued, the seasoned rogue now tasks himself with discovering the answer to the mystery of the ships, but not before replenishing his weaponry.
Karthon makes his way back down to the streets. Once there he utilised one of the best ways to gather information: "HELLO?", he called, and looked around for someone to reply.

Exactly. I could do what you said, or create a shield around myself with New Magic. By the time it wore off, and they attacked me, I could have devised on Old Magic spell to hold them in place and prevent them from using magic.

Yes, one arm and two swords. A Khopesh, which is part of the Creed (A underground spy origination). And a Scimitar which is part of his family's legacy (Every member has a scimitar made for them and only them).

I don't believe that the Xain will be using much magic, so that might not help very much. You should have tried that on Enguerrand.

A man comes out of a nearby building, "Stop shouting already! Some people are trying to sleep around here!"

Xainish magic is quite strong, Drake made a point of learning some basics when he traveled there. Drake used Xainish Fire magic to fight the Bear Amry.

Rule told me that they had very strict rules concerning magic. However, you created that country, so you would know.

I did. But he used Xain magic (presumably) and so resisted it. However, I still could use some other spell on him.

It is on a lower level than New Age Magic, but each magic has it's own Pros and Cons. Only nobles use magic the most, or if you're lucky you could have the talent and be forced drafted into the Mage school.
