• As soon as I conceptualized the Count, I knew I wanted one of the ninja to be a spy for him. It made sense; Emilius could, however discreetly, influence Lloyd’s growth in power. I blanked on which one, because it had to be someone who was there before Lloyd, which ruled out Seliel and Skylor. It had to be someone with a lot of his life unexplored by backstory, which ruled out Zane, and it had to be a decent liar. So, definitely not Jay. Thus it came down to either him or Kai. Originally, it was going to be Kai, but the thing is, Kai spent his whole life with Nya. Nya, who likely would’ve noticed anything fishy snooping around Ignacia. Cole, on the other hand, had the perfect incentive to be alone for long enough to meet Emilius: his overbearing father. Cole left home at a young age, and quickly realized how horrendously unprepared he was to be alone in the world. Meanwhile, Emilius was looking for an Elemental Master that Sensei Wu was likely to recruit, and the resentful loner Cole Hence was practically a godsend.
• At the end of the season, Cole betrays Emilius. There were a few motivating factors for this decision. ◦ The first straw was Garmadon’s death. Cole wasn’t aware Garmadon was even a target. ◦ Seliel and Jay nearly die in “The Hunt.” By this point, Seliel and Cole are an item. ◦ Finally, Emilius messes with Lou, Cole’s father, who by now has reconciled with him.
• “CSI: Garmadon” takes place 4 years and 8 months after “Way of the Ninja.”
• The Iron Dragons are led by Koko. Skylor’s mother. In the Lego Ninjago Movie, Koko was Lloyd’s mother (and did a much better job of it than Misako), but by the time I found out about her, I’d already retconned Misako into a passable parent. So, I found another use for her. In the movie, her war handle was Lady Iron Dragon, which is why I named her league of assassins the Iron Dragons.
• Cole’s mission was more or less to find the Green Ninja, get him as powerful as possible, and deliver him to Emilius when he peaked. So… yeah. He’s been a spy the whole time. I’m not sorry.

Still loving this AU, though, and I'm still impressed by your attention to detail and making everything connect.

Seasons 5 and 6 are very cool! I like how you made the war parts longer and more detailed.
Thank you!
The decision I struggled most with was making Morro the actual son of Sensei Wu, but I like it the more I think about it. It does bring with it the unfortunate implication that the Green Ninja could only have been someone descended from the First Spinjitzu Master, as both Lloyd and Morro are his grandchildren, but I think that lends a bit of extra weight to Morro's statement that he has "just as much claim" to the Green Ninja mantle as Lloyd does.
Certainly a massive retcon, but, if you recall, the next season is when things start to go... massively off-canon.
I think Morro being Wu's son fits quite well. Yep, I think I remember.
I: The Anniversary (Four months after the End, Lloyd has taken over as Sensei and Master of the Condrai Cultists, Cole’s name is cleared, and the ninja celebrate the team’s anniversary; it has been five years to the day since Sensei Wu approached Cole)
II: Alchemists of Matter (Cole is appointed as warden of Kryptarium Prison. Borg Tower's defenses are breached, and with Pixal visiting Zane, Cyrus goes on the offensive alone. A scientist wakes up in a coffin, confused and half-corporeal)
III: Out of Touch (Jay, Kai and Nya investigate multiple impossible thefts of the rare material corite; Arconix awakens his friends)
IV: Time Bomb (The Alchemists invade the Temple of Matter for it’s formless, priceless treasure, and the ninja are tasked with stopping them, but all is not as it seems)
V: Garmadon City (Cole, Jay, Kai and Nya struggle through an alternate reality in which their doppelgängers are twisted enforcers of a deadly regime. Lloyd and Zane try to reconstitute Yarix, Lanix, Krux and Arconix)
VI: Resistance (Jay, Nya and Kai infiltrate the alternate Samurai X Cave and find it the base of operations for the resistance against the Garmadon Empire’s government. Cole is interrogated by Not-Seliel)
VII: OverLloyd (Not-Lloyd, the sinister OverLloyd and ruler of the Garmadon Empire, emerges from meditation and takes over from his father. Jay, Nya and Kai meet the resistance’s leader. Zane accidentally crosses over into the alternate Ninjago)
VIII: The Dateraux Disciple (Not-Chen, Jay and Kai go to rescue Cole. Zane and Not-Ronin take over Not-Zane’s satellite)
IX: The Tactician (Zane and Not-Zane trade backstories while the former is studied in a cell. Not-Chen meets with Not-Morro and Not-Skales to form an alliance against Not-Lloyd)
X: Rebellion (Lloyd, Cole, Jay, Kai, Nya, Not-Cryptor, Not-Morro, and Not-Chen march on the Tower of Garmadon to strike at the OverLloyd himself)
XI: Coming Home (Returning to Ninjago, the ninja find that the Alchemists have taken the Temple and Seliel has recovered. Cronix returns after his Matter Blade is repaired)
XII: Two Halves of Fate, Part 1 (OverLloyd and his forces cross over into Ninjago to get revenge)
XIII: Two Halves of Fate, Part 2 (OverLloyd’s army launches an assault with the Source under his control, and the ninja must call upon their allies for a last showdown)
Five years since “Way of the Ninja”! What a long way they’ve come. That means Cole is 24, Jay is 22, Zane is 56, Kai is 23, Nya is 21, and Lloyd is 533.
I’ve revamped Arconix and Krux; they’re no longer time hooligans. They’re scientists. Sander Saunders and his brother Morgan were on a team with Dr. Ryan Fleming (Cronix), Dr. Rebecca Rivett (Yarix), Dr. Jaeden Ming (Lanix), and Dr. Jasper Fenwick, who is now the lead keeper of the Temple of Matter. The six scientists used the Source to create matter out of nothing, which those of you well-versed in thermodynamics know is technically impossible. Energy can’t be created or destroyed, so the Source’s creations have to come from somewhere. As they’re trying to figure out from where, Fenwick decides he doesn’t care and tries to take the power for himself. He uses the Source to destroy matter, rendering the Saunders brothers, Ming, Fleming, and Rivett half-corporeal and trapping them in special boxes designed to contain them. Years later, during “Alchemists of Matter,” Dr. Sander Saunders wakes up and escapes. However, for much of this arc, Fenwick has the ninja convinced that he was in the right, and that the other five guys betrayed him.
The latter half of this season takes place in an alternate timeline in which all the good guys are evil and all the bad guys are good. Basic stuff that I had a lot of fun fleshing out.
Lloyd’s doppelgänger rules the Garmadon Empire as OverLloyd.
Cole, Jay and Kai’s doppelgängers are The Destroyer, the Trickster, and the Berserker, respectively. They’re some of OverLloyd’s chief enforcers.
Nya’s doppelgänger is The General, who leads OverLloyd's nindroid army.
Seliel’s doppelgänger is The Interrogator, whose role is fairly self-explanatory.
Skylor’s doppelgänger is The Assassin, whose role is also fairly self-explanatory.
Zane’s doppelgänger is The Tactician, who is hooked up to a network of thousands of robotic falcons that watch the people’s every move. Yep. The birds really are government drones here.
Garmadon’s doppelgänger is Garmaster, who serves as OverLloyd’s proxy during his meditative retreats.
Ronin’s doppelgänger is Khan Chen, aka Samurai X, a member of the resistance against OverLloyd.
Master Chen’s doppelgänger is the benevolent Sensei Chen, who leads this resistance.
Even General Cryptor has a doppelgänger! Z.A.N.E. is a member of the resistance.
Lar Franco, Adam Istar, and Griffin Turner’s doppelgängers are members of the resistance, trained by Sensei Chen as ninja.
Morro’s doppelgänger is Vidre, the Green Ninja, fighting in honor of his late father, Sensei Wu.
Well, look who I didn't expect to return, didn't know had returned for about 3 months, and didn't know what to say for 3 days after I had found out.
Welcome to the LEGO Message Boards Eternal Brick Boards, snakebuster001. I like the show (well, most of it), but I'm still interested in your vision for what a completely different version of it could look like. You're clearly planning this all out in detail, and I think this gives Edition Grande potential to be great and even surpass the show in quality. So yes, I'm on board with this and I want to see more of what you want to do.
Also, how about doing Bionicle G2: Edition Grande? I already have a bunch of ideas for a revamp of G2, and you were planning out a revamp on the original Message Boards, so I would definitely like to see that.

I'm happy I found the Brick Boards, and I'm happy to see you back here, too! I honestly didn't think you and ninjagofanmam would even remember me, so this is nice.
I have a couple other themes I want to explore for this universe. Chima has a solid place on the timeline, millions of years before the events of this thread. Hero Factory would take place millennia in the future, after humanity has died out and androids have inherited the galaxy. I might even take a crack at Ultra Agents, despite it having faded into obscurity; Kita "Toxikita" Drew and Lukas "Invizable" Pale made their debut as Ultra Agents villains, after all.
Now, Bionicle is something of a different story.
That's definitely not a hard no, I'll just... have to think about it. Bionicle does still have a place on the timeline, eons before Chima, but it's hard to say what I'd do with it, if anything at all.
The reason I say that is because I had a storyline, but it followed a lot of the same beats as early Ninjago drafts and I didn't like that, so I scrapped it. I don't even know if I have the document anymore.
If I did end up doing something, it'd probably be comparatively short, maybe two seasons long or even one.

Character Profiles - Sensei Wu
Sensei Wu is the younger son of the legendary Yan Ryou, the creator of Ninjago and founder of Spinjitzu. The powers passed down from his father have allowed him to live for more than a thousand years. In that time, he has made a name for himself, righting wrongs and aiding the weak, becoming an urban legend amongst the smaller, more superstitious villages of the land of Ninjago. The Sensei has not taught students in a long time. But when he discovers the army of the dead massing against the living, Wu must train four young men to follow him into battle against them.
(And since I know I'll be asked, yes, this was done in a Nintendo Switch Mii Maker. I can't draw faces to save my life.)
Ooh nice, this alternate timeline thing sounds cool!
Thanks!
I wish I could take credit for the OverLloyd pun, but that was the brainchild of a different user on the old LEGO Message Boards. I forget who.
Deciding which Elemental Masters would make up this universe's ninja team was the fun part. I knew Not-Ronin would be Samurai X. I knew Not-Morro would be the Green Ninja (to add a little extra sting of irony to his doppelgänger's actions). I was originally going to use both Griffin and Karloff, sadly the only Elemental Masters with their own minifigures, but I figured Karloff would be in his home country designing weapons, either against the Garmadon Empire or for it, depending on whether Metalonia had already been conquered or not (a decision I never really made). The other two were determined by Avatar: the Last Airbender's magic system. It's elemental, like Ninjago's, but a bit less numbered (and yet somehow more varied). They famously have water, earth, fire, and air as their elements, and Ninjago's OG four had an earth guy and a fire guy, but no water or air. So, knowing the Masters of Earth and Fire would be evil in this universe, I picked out the Masters of Water and Wind and used them.
My newest project is character profiles for Ninjago's essential heroes, villains, and other folk. Mystake and the mysterious Mailman get their rare mention.
Cole Lou Hence, born May 8, 2401, is 18. He has been a wanderer for the past six years, participating in all manner of daring and impossible, testing his limits, but with no direction or drive, drawn to nowhere but the greatest challenge. Why a 12-year-old would resolve to do this is a mystery, but he’s done it since then and not died yet. Sensei Wu met with him at the top of his greatest triumph yet; the summit of the Mountain of a Million Steps, which he had climbed with no gear. Cole’s unmovable demeanor, even in the face of the impossible, makes him an ideal fit for Sensei Wu’s team of ninja.
