So I was encouraged to try something new, writing a story. I’ve always had a thing for creating stories, but not writing them. Hopefully, I’ll do well with this. This would be my first story I’ve ever made public, although it’s more of a practice run, to be honest. Regardless, I really hope you enjoy!

Cole’s Tea: A Ninjago Short Story
It was a peaceful day. Everything was perfect. Ninjago was at a time of tranquility.
With nothing to threaten Ninjago, Sensei Wu had decided to give the Ninja a day off. Having just had an intense training exercise yesterday, the Ninja needed some time to rest and relax. So rest and relax they did. They all went off, some of them separate from the others, and enjoyed some time to themselves, whether by indulging in their own hobbies, or in Lloyd’s case, SLEEP.
In the living room, Kai was sitting on the couch playing “Starfarer 3: The Videogame”. Next to him was Jay, waiting for his turn at the game. Unfortunately for poor Kai, this made Jay rather bored, and so he had begun to entertain himself by telling jokes and recounting to Kai a number of stories, mostly about his recent dates with Nya.
“...and then Nya and I-“ Jay continued.
“Jay,” Kai interrupts. He’d had enough of Jay’s annoying stories and jokes. “Can you stop that? I’m trying to-“ Suddenly, the tv began to emit a sad little jingle, signaling that Kai had unfortunately lost the game. “...concentrate,” He finished, dejectedly.
Seemingly oblivious to Kai’s annoyance, Jay shouted with glee. “My turn!” he said, as he grabbed the controller and began playing.
Just then, Cole entered the room carrying a large pot with a ladle sticking out of the top, and a couple of cups.
“Hey guys!” He greeted. “Wanna try my new recipe for tea? I made it with a secret ingredient!”
“Is it love?” Jay piped up.
Cole sighed. “No Jay, it’s not love.”
Kai then responded, “No offense, Cole, but I haven’t had many good experiences with your experimental cooking lately...” He was trying to choose his words carefully, for fear of hurting his friend’s feelings.

Jay, however, with his eyes glued to the game, once again piped up with, “Wow Kai, that was a really hurtful thing to say.”
Cole, unfazed by Kai’s remark and ignoring Jay, reassured them. “Now, now. I understand your concern, Kai. My attempt at recreating the Puffy Potstickers from Mister Chen’s Noodles was admittedly a downright failure, but I think you’ll like it. I spent the last hour perfecting the recipe.”
Kai, still not wanting to upset Cole, gave in. “Ugh, fine. This stuff had better be good, though...”
“Oh, it will be,” Cole said, as he poured a cup of tea for Kai.
Unbeknownst to the other two, Jay had taken his attention away from playing and set down his controller to watch, as he knew what was going to happen, and couldn’t resist watching Kai try to force down another one of Cole’s abominable culinary creations.
Cole then held out the cup of tea to Kai, who reluctantly took it.
“Here we go,” Kai whispered before hesitantly sipping the tea.
Almost immediately, he had the urge to spit it out. The tea was absolutely disgusting, and he wanted nothing more to wash the taste out of his mouth. But for his friend’s sake, he managed to swallow it.

And with that, Cole took the giant pot of tea and the rest of the cups and left. Jay hoped Sensei Wu wouldn’t be too critical of it. However, Jay was curious about something. What exactly was that “secret ingredient”?
“Lemme see it,” he said to Kai, who was still holding his unfinished cup.
“Ugh, one hundred percent do not recommend. I can still taste it in my mouth,” he said as he passed the cup over to Jay.
Jay took it, and held it up to his nose, sniffing it. Almost immediately, he picked up on a familiar scent that definitely does not belong in tea.
“Do I smell...ketchup?”
Kai shop up from the couch. “Ketchup!? Ew!!!” He rushed off, presumably to find a sink to rinse the taste out of his mouth.
Jay, who still found the whole situation amusing, snickered at Kai’s reaction. Although, deep down, he was grateful to the First Spinjitzu Master that he did not have to try Cole’s tea.

Well, uh, there it is! I hope you all liked it. And any feedback and/or tips would be most appreciated. Thank you for reading!
Ay, good job, dude!! I don't know if you'll want to post any more short stories but if you do, I call the first moar!
Thanks so much! I might do more in the future, it depends. Basically this story was based off of a script for a stop motion short I was planning to do, so maybe I’ll do more like that if I feel like it would be fun.

Oh, nice! I've dabbled in stop motion, my creation weren't the best though. How many shorts have you made?

Well, Cole’s Tea will be my first short, but I’ve done stop motion a lot, and I’m working on a 10 minute movie, actually.
