Elliea cast a look at the other then shrugged, “Pretty much yeah. So will you do it?” The girl nervously nibbled at her ponytail then cracked her knuckles, “Okay. I’ll do it. I’m Penny by the way, but my tag is Next.” Landon frowned even deeper than he already had been during the Source convo, “Do ALL hackers prefer to go by their tags?” The girl lifted an eyebrow at him, “Don’t most people go by their nicknames” She focused on her computer screen. “Well if he’s in hiding this might take me hours, you guys better settle in. Soft drinks in the fridge. Don’t touch the pretzels.” She glances up, saw their confused expressions and went on, “The pretzels are my brother’s. He’ll be back from work later this evening.” The gang had no choice but to get prepared for a long afternoon. Fortunately they had practice for this sort of thing… After several hours they had kind of migrated to the living room as well as the kitchen/dining room. King had loosened his tie and rolled up his cuffs and was sitting with an elbow hooked on the back of his chair halfheartedly reading a magazine for interlocking brick systems. Landon was asleep on the couch and Essa was sitting curled up in an armchair about to doze off too. Damian was rocking on his heels and staring and family pictures on the wall. For the twelfth time. The sudden noise of the door banging open and closed jerked every agent instinctively to alert mode. All of them were half standing or sitting up with a hand on their concealed weapon. The young man that had entered the kitchen stood in the doorway and one of those weird stare thing took place. He continued to stare, unsure what exactly was going down. “Uh...sis….what?” Next didn’t ever even bother to look up from her screen, “Guests, business. Hi.” His face twisted into a weirded out look for a moment before he shrugged said, “Whatever” and walked over to a cabinet nearby.
He took out a bag of pretzels and disappeared up the stairs. All the agents looked at each other then settled back out of their various awkward positions. Damian hazarded, “Your brother?” Next typed all the harder, “Yeah. Rhett J. Whier. Some call him R.J. which is stupid cause he’s not a street homie. If you want everything else on his bio ask later.” She lurched up straight in her seat and gave a cry of excitement. “Crikey I’ve done it!!” Everyone gathered around her chair quick as a flash. “I got him!” The screen flickered, went black then booted up to the familiar chat page. No exits or esc buttons, just text on the screen in a familiar font.
Source: What do you want? I’m giving you one minute to answer me, and I will know if you lie, before I erase everything you own and burn your computer’s guts from the inside. All that 220BerbFiar laptop will be good for is a drink coaster.
Landon frowned sarcastically, “Same old charming self isn’t he. Just as we remembered him.”
Next: Some old friends of yours asked me to find you. I’ll give access. Source: If it’s Bellimeous tell him he ain’t getting his filthy money and he can g Next: Uhhh, no. Damian: Uh, you realize she’s your senior officer now right? Source: Hi there buddy, if she’s so official why she need you to jump in. Damian: Why did we think this was a good idea again? Landon: My thoughts exactly…. King: We want you to help us find some of the more…..elusive people that used to be on Eagle. Source: Hmmm, definitely my specialty. Give me the name boss. King: Please look for Katie. I think she’s using her money to hide with her family somewhere. Source: On it. While we’re here I’d someday like to meet the hacker you sicced on me. You still here kid? Next: Yeah. Source: You’re not bad. You’ve got some potential, don’t do bad with it. Next: Duly noted. Thank you sir. Source: Sir? Dang you’re making me blush. Bye for now all, I’ve put my numbers in your phones during our little chat.
The screen froze and pixelated badly then flashed several different error messages before returning to normal. Everyone glanced around a moment before King took charge. “My flight is tomorrow morning. You guys have until afternoon till your flight to Ireland.” He then turned and shook Next’s hand. “Thank you, you were perfect. I’ll have the amount we agreed on in your account before midnight.” Things were starting to take place and no one could really stop it now.
