Part 8
Whatever innocence I once had was robbed of me. Every day either brought the same routine or horrors old and new. Despite me being known as the Victory Keeper, our side was losing on many other fronts of the war. Most of the missions I was sent out on I shouldn't have expected to return alive, nor did I deserve to. As you know, most things come to an end, and that includes wars... It was mid-summer, and the war could pretty much be won or lost by one right or wrong move by the high general. We had made up camp near a forest and I was going to be sent out to locate where the major leaders were among the enemy who weren't far off. I was getting ready when I heard a great disturbance outside my tent. The enemy had planned an attack in the night. They obviously didn't care that there would be high casualties due to the darkness, otherwise they would have waited. I don't recall much from that night beside the horrors that seemed to play on repeat. The battle continued as the light of morning slowly returned. Somehow though I was very exhausted I had only taken a little damage, but most in the camp weren't so fortunate. A large soldier approached me. I did what I could to keep him at bay, but the odds were set against me from the start. He impaled his sword into me, when I didn't fall he delivered a few more strikes until I was down. Once I was on the ground he continued to the next man still standing, leaving me to parish. He didn't even know he had struck down the Victory Keeper, as if that title meant anything anymore though. To those who found us though I would be just another ninja, another solider, a faceless and nameless loss... As I contemplated my demise in what I believed to be my final moments I saw something white flash on the edge of my vision. I thought surely I was seeing things. I glanced up to see Tear's human form standing over me. Before I realized what was happening she was kneeling by my side. "I feared this would happen." She said, "however, the Forest Guardian told me there is a way I can save you."

Part 9
I wanted to say that it was too late and that even if she did save me I would have nowhere to go. But I was too weak to speak. She continued. "It will take a sacrifice of part of my own lifespan, but it's a gift I'm willing to give." Before I could fully process what she had just said she put her hand on my forehead and there was a flash of light. For a moment everything felt numb, but then I slowly regained my senses. My strength returned to me and I realized I was healed. "Can you stand?" asked Tear. I did, and then the two of us headed for the forest before the enemy could spot us. Once a little ways into the forest we stopped and Tear explained how she had searched for me and found me in time. We both expressed how glad we were to see each other again after such a long time. It was obvious that time and the cruel world had changed both of us in different ways. It was then that the Forest Guardian came out of the shadows and into a ray of light that peaked through the trees. He whispered. "I have one question before I let you into the forest. What have you to say about your home and family's destruction?" I replied as honestly as I could. "I wish I hadn't taken them for granted, that they were still alive instead of me. But I know the past can't be changed and I must move forward." "I will accept this answer. By entering this forest you accept it as your new home. As we speak the army you previously fought for has been overtaken and there is nothing for a warrior, or much less a ninja to return to. So instead you will protect this forest and those who live here as my helper. And in return you may live here and be protected. " I agreed to do as he said, and the three of us walked deeper into the forest together. As my enemies settled the land around the forest over the next several years, stories began to spread about the creatures that lived there. And about the ghost of a deceased ninja warrior guarding it.
-End
Ok, that's it. Try not to read into the meaning too much or anything, I just made this up as I went along.
