Okay, so to really get this topic "sailing"(?) I'll post a story based on one that someone posted on the original.
THE SCARF
Tommy had no friends. It was lunch time of his first day of preschool and he was alone in a corner eating a simple turkey sandwich with mayo and cheddar cheese. It was his favorite, the special kind he always asked his mommy to make for him. But still, he was alone and felt a little scared and awkward. Presently, a girl with a red velvet scarf walked up. The way she walked-sort of in a crooked manner, I suppose, but nothing else was really out of the ordinary with her. "Hi, I'm Charlotte. Wanna be friends?" Tommy nodded his head, but didn't answer verbally. He was very shy, a sort of introvert, so he was glad someone asked him, and the task of asking her wasn't presented to him instead. And just like that, a friendship was made. But Tommy noted, through the years, that Charlotte was never seen without that red velvet scarf. After college, Tommy-now known as Thomas-proposed to Charlotte, and they were married sometime in the next few months, I can't be quite sure, as I am passing this story to you, as it was passed to me, as it was passed to whoever passed it to me, and so on, so I can't be quite sure on numbers, I'm sure you understand, but what I do know is that they were married for the better part of 50-no, 60, well whatever it was, they had a happy life together, Charlotte never taking off that red velvet scarf, Tommy-I'm sorry, Thomas-always wondering why, until one day, Charlotte, old and frail, on her deathbed, called Thomas in. "It was fun" she whispered through those wrinkly old lips, (and I apologize for this) she took off that red velvet scarf...
Can I write a Ninjago related one? Or a few even? I mean I could also come with something original I suppose.
Well, I guess this topic is technically for originals, but I don't think a few Ninjago ones would hurt, as long as it's just a few.
Ok, I'll keep that in mind. I actually did start writing an original story for this topic, it's turning out to be a little longer than I expected so it might be several posts long.

( You mean Aurora? If you are referring to me, I wasn't a runner up or anything to my knowledge. ) I've got most of it written, so I suppose I might as well start posting it and finish it after that.

Ok, got it written. Ended up being a lot longer than planned.
Gift of the Kitsune
part 1
I was born in a part of our country that is quite well off. From childhood, I trained in the ways of combat and stealth just as my ancestors were. Everyone in our community always said I would grow up to be handsome and strong; though I wondered if they only said so to gain my parent's approval. To tell this tale we have to start when I went for a walk through the forest when I was ten years old. It was then that I saw something pure white laying on the path. I got closer and soon realized it to be a young fox. Her leg had been injured, but she was still alive; although the only thing that made that clear was her side rising and falling as she breathed. I don't know what came over me that day or why I decided it, but I decided to take the young fox back home to try and save her. I didn't know what my parents would think, so I brought her back to health in the tool shed. I brought her food and water and some blankets. As the weeks went by she began to regain her strength, her leg started to heal, and she became more lively. I would tell her things and she would listen. Her unusual violet eyes would stare up at me. When she liked what I told her, her ears would perk up and she would wag her white tail. One morning I went out to the shed to bring her food. There was a thick fog at the time, so one could only see so far. When suddenly I saw a white fox with blue eyes. She was carrying the young fox with violet eyes in her mouth out of the shed. She stopped in her tracks when she saw me and put the little fox down. She looked at me with anger, her teeth bared, ears back, fur on end. She made a small growling sound and stalked toward me. I just stood there, unsure of what to do. The young fox with violet eyes made a high pitched noise and looked up at the older. The blue-eyed fox paused, regarded me with a stern look, and turned away. She picked up the little fox again and ran off in the direction of the forest. I didn't follow, I just watched them go. But I never forgot them.

Part 2
Years went by, and eventually, there came another day where I walked through the forest. I wasn't looking for anything or anyone. I had just needed to get away from it all. My parents had been starting to talk about me eventually being betrothed to one of about a dozen girls from the community who impressed them. I couldn't take the talk anymore, it didn't settle right with me for some reason, though I didn't know why. I ventured deeper into the forest than I ever dared to before. My gut kept telling me to turn back and go home. That if I went too far there could be trouble. But the thought of going back and seeing those faces again was even worse. I recalled the stories whispered about the deep forest and it's many wonders and dangers. The community was far too practical to go on about the stories much. But I remembered some of the names whispered: werewolf, kelpie, ogre, jackalope, and kitsune... As I continued on, the first unusual thing I saw was a waterfall that fell into a pool of water that flowed into a small stream. The surrounding area was covered in rocks, green foliage, and flowers that were white with red markings on them. The water seemed almost an unnatural dark blue color. By that point, I had been walking for what most likely had been hours and I was extremely thirsty. So without thinking I rushed to the pool of water for a drink. I must have been sitting there mindlessly cupping water with my hands into my mouth for about a minute. When suddenly, to my immense shock, some water weeds came out of the water and wrapped around my arm. The weeds tightened and pulled me down into the water. I remember seeing bared white fangs attached to the face and body of a black horse-like creature under the water. Its mane and tail were long and dark green and water weeds seemed to be growing from its body. It had unsettling white eyes that stared unblinking at me in the dark water.

Part 3
The water stung my eyes and my lungs were getting desperate for breath. I attempted to swim away from the creature and escape the suffocating water, but more weeds grabbed me and held me there. The creature then bit me hard in the shoulder, the fangs sinking into my flesh and bones effortlessly. In that moment I had almost accepted my fate, until I noticed a furry white figure jump into the water. I don't clearly remember what happened after that. But apparently, I was somehow pulled out of the water and put back on land. When I finally became aware of my surroundings again I heard two female voices speaking to each other by me. I figured some of the girls from the community had somehow found me and that there were probably other community members nearby. However, when I looked up I saw that wasn't the case. One of them was wearing a black dress and had dark green hair, her eyes were light gray. She looked coldly at me. The other, who was closer to me had black hair and violet eyes, she wore a white and purple kimono and had a somewhat feral look about her, despite that though she was quite beautiful. "You're too soft as usual." said the green-haired girl. "But if you want that human to live, you will have to be the one to heal him. Just make extra sure he doesn't trespass on my territory ever again..." "And you are grouchy as usual." said the girl with the violet eyes. It was getting hard to breathe again, and the pain was becoming more noticeable. "Ugh, kitsunes..." said the green-haired girl as she transformed into the horse-like monster I had been attacked by and dived into the water. The violet-eyed girl pulled something out of her pocket as she said. "Don't mind her, she's actually not bad for a kelpie..." She put some kind of powder on my wounds and they began to heal faster than I knew was natural. When I could finally stand up she told me to follow her away from the kelpie's home. When we were far enough away she asked me. "What brings you this deep into the forest?" I realized there was no use in making up excuses, so I told her the honest truth.

Part 4
When I had finished explaining I thanked her for saving me and asked what her name was. "They call me Tear. Because of all the tears on the night I was born when the war was still going on," she replied. When I asked about the war, she told me that there had been a war when she was young of some of the kelpie and ogres vs some of the jackalopes, werewolves, and kitsune. Then she asked me my name. So I replied. "June." She asked why, but I told her my parents just liked the name. After that, I asked her if she really was a kitsune. "Oh, I thought that was obvious." she said, "yes, I am." She turned into her fox form briefly to show me. She had pure white fur and violet eyes. "You look like a fox I found when I was a kid," I said. "I actually was taken in by a human boy once when I was little. It was because I got separated from my family and injured during the war," she replied. It didn't take us long to figure out our stories were connected and were of the same events. She insisted on showing me around the forest. So I let her show me some of the nearby sights of the forest. However, as it got dark, I knew that I had better return to the community. Tear didn't like the idea of me leaving, but I told her why and despite the sadden look on her face claimed she understood. She followed me most of the way back, even helping with directions. When we got to the edge of the forest right outside the community she said she didn't want to go any further. We said goodbye, and I told myself that would likely be the last time I'd see her. My parents had been worried, and were quite upset that I had been gone for so long. I thought it best not to tell them what took place so they wouldn't grow anxious over it though. Days passed, and my parents pressed the betrothal issue even more, even having me meet some of the girls in a more formal setting. I couldn't force myself to be interested in them though.

Part 5
At this point my parents had me speak with one of the community's elders about the issue. He said everything my parents had said before on the topic, he only got into more detail. After that, I retreated to the forest again. I deliberately went in the direction I had the last time. I kept going, until I heard a voice. "What brings you back here?" I turned to see a white kitsune with violet eyes, it was Tear. Slightly taken aback, I explained I was there for the same reasons as before. I talked with her a little longer, then returned to the community. I returned many times after that. This kept up for the next several months. When my parents found out it was the deep forest I was going to when I disappeared they were greatly distressed. They said I would surely die young if I continued to wander that deep into the forest. When I was in the forest Tear would tell me how the beings of the forest lived there and how to survive. In turn, I told her what I had grown up learning. Eventually, my parents brought the issue to the community elders. They suggested to hurry along with my betrothal. However, as soon as word got out that I had been going far into the deep forest quite frequently, everyone, including the girls, became extremely wary of me. It was like I had a contagious disease. Soon, no one spoke to me or even dared come near me. Though I heard them talk among themselves that I had forest sent on me and rumors about what I went there for. I continued to go to the forest anyway, if they were going to say I was a mysterious misfit among them, why not embrace it? Several more months went by. I had begun to meet many of the beings and creatures of the forest, learning what the best ways were to co-exist in the same environment as them. They all had unique and quirky personalities, and most had stories from the war. My parents had nearly given up on trying to talk sense into me and began to focus more on my brother's future. Despite this though, I was content for the most part, I had excepted the fate of the present I was in. Unfortunately, not everything was in my favor...

Part 6
One day as I was talking to Tear as we walked through the forest a being I had not seen before stepped out of seemingly nowhere. He was unlike the kelpie, ogres, jackalopes, werewolves, and kitsune I had seen over the months; his body was completely covered in plants besides his face which had an animal skull either covering it or that was his actual face. He was very tall and hunched over so that his long arms helped support his body as he walked on all fours. "So this, is the human who has made himself so comfortable in this forest.." He said in a soft yet haunting whisper. Tear transformed into her fox form. Her ears were back and her fur was raised, the whites of her violet eyes could be seen. "Forest Guardian, what are you doing here?" she asked. "It has come to my attention that a human has been coming into our safe haven. I can only wonder, why?" said the guardian as his skull face turned to look at me. "I come here because I like to," I replied. "But you have a home among your own kind, do you not?" The Forest Guardian asked. "I do have a home, not far from here I suppose..." I answered. "I see..." he replied. He looked me over or at least that's what I assume he did as he stood there. Then he said. "Do not return to this forest unless you truly need to." "But why?" I asked. "Because it is not where you belong." He replied, then added, "this is your only warning..." When he had finished speaking he silently turned to leave, his steps as quiet as a breeze as disappeared into the dark forest. After a long horrible silence Tear spoke to me. "He's right, you should go. I'm sorry... I truly do enjoy spending time with you. But the Forest Guardian is very powerful and he usually knows what is best." I didn't want to listen to the Forest Guardian, or Tear, but she somehow convinced me to leave the forest that day and told me to not came back as she said what she was convinced was goodbye.

Part 7
I let her believe it was goodbye forever, and I said everything I thought I needed to just in case it was. However, I didn't intend to stay away, I had other plans... I deliberately returned to the deep forest a week later. I made sure I was careful not to draw attention to myself, but it was in vain; I ended up face to face with the forest guardian. "I cannot let you go further..." whispered the mysterious being. "Why not?" I asked. "Did I not tell you?" Whispered the Forest Guardian. In a defiant manner I replied. "You gave me an answer, but I can't understand your reasoning at all..." "Then I don't see the need in further explaining... Foes we will become until the time comes that you are worthy of the forest's protection..." said the Forest Guardian before he suddenly attacked me. Every day, I returned and fought the being. He looked so fragile, but in reality he was quite strong and large. So, as a result, I lost, every, single, time. I began to train harder in order to face the Forest Guardian, and after six months our battles became a normal part of the day. That is, until the war started... Every person of age was required to help the war effort under the organization of the warlord who had claim to the land our community was on. I no longer had time to go to the forest. My job at first was to help train the younger community members. My skill did not go unnoticed for long though and I was sent away to the front lines. The generals were very pleased with what they called my talent and two years after the war started I was recognized as one of the army's most reliable ninja. The nickname I was given was Victory Keeper. But with such fame comes a price... Word got out to the enemy where the Victory Keeper came from, and the community was attacked and burned to the ground while I was away with the army. In my time in the war, I saw things and heard things and smelled things and felt things that made me go numb to the world around me. Even more so than before.
