A large, open hand emerged from the shadows, and wrapped its fingers around Valfakt's torso at the exact moment he arrived there. A Makuta clad in ebon soon followed, rearing up it's other arm for what appearred to be a bladed punch. At this, Valfakt turned his wings backwards, and a barrage of plasma slammed itself directly into Kratark's face. Valfakt then ripped himself away from Kratark's grasp through the sheer force of the exhaust from his wings, and began to fire his pistols on Kratark as he was doing so before. Kratark took a moment to get back on his feet, forced to use limited invulnerability to protect himself in the meantime. He then created an explosion of shadow to break Valfakt's concentration, and when the dust settled, Kratark was standing, mostly unharmed, with a massive greatsword in one of his hands.
"Do you know what this sword signifies?" Kratark asked.
Valfakt didn't answer, his pose low to the ground, and his guns still aimed at Kratark.
"It is an oath I took many years ago. A vow to never take someone or something else's life for granted. To protect the innocent no matter how much I may not care. To always know who my enemy is, and to bring ruin upon them. The Toa you killed today were loyal defenders of life, who wanted nothing more than to offer up their services to the denizens of this world, and you obliterated them in cold blood. What's worse? I think you're Great Being created. You're not like the others. You're young, fresh. You have a purpose in you that has been given to you by someone who you know only as your creator. You are just, like, me. Blindly following an order you don't understand the implications or consequences of. You don't think for yourself, and you're willing to annihilate the universe because of it. But here's the real kicker: you care and believe in what you're doing. Your speed, your precision, your brutality, they are qualities even I lack. This sword, however, does not, lack those qualities."
"Oh. yeah. I can totally tell that swinging that big slab of metal around is gonna get you somewhere. Nevermind that it's a heavy melee weapon and I'm sporting a pair of-"
A sword pommel was thrusted at Valfakt's gut. Kratark was on top of him in a matter of seconds, but the silver Makuta was able to leap backward and fire a volley of plasma bullets at Kratark, who brought the large blade up in front of him, blocking the searing spray with ease.
"This sword has the unique quality of being made out of something I cared about. If it was alive today, it would have helped me tackle you to the ground, and it would have eaten you. When I hold this blade, you could say I am filled with determination. A will to move and act with purpose just as you do. I may not have rocket wings, but I have this sword..."
He paused for a moment, bringing the blade into a restful but no less defensive position.
"And," he said, "not only that, I have this cape."
The cape in question began to emit a continuous stream of smoke, for what it's worth, and Kratark was now hovering a millimeter above the ground.
"Prove it." Valfakt dared him defiantly. He proceeded to zoom circles around Kratark, firing on him from many different angles, all the while however: that vexingly large but quick blade would find a way to block every shot Valfakt took. All the while a storm of fragmentation blasts forced Valfakt to stay on the move whether he wanted to or not, making it that much harder to aim his pistols.
"Flying around like that taxes you, doesn't it?" Kratark began to figure, "That's quite a raging stream of plasma if it's propelling something as massive as you like that. I bet you have to concentrate an awful lot on maintaining the strength of that one power, huh? I, on the other hand..."[/font] he trailed off, before turning his gaze so it would meet the drake's blue eyes.
"Have no such limitations."
Kratark caught Valfakt at a moment when he needed to slow down, and the he came to a sudden halt. The ebon Makuta's voice resounded inside of Valfakt's mind, seemingly bouncing around the proverbial walls of his psyche as his words boomed thunderously in the mindspace itself.
Valfakt was caught in Kratark's deathstare, one of the deadliest weapons in his arsenal.
