Jednook stops to one side of the street and lowers his beak to sniff the new place. Goatie, getting off his steed, waves at the people and walks into the nearest shop. 'Good day, where can I find someone selling weapons, please?'

One of the townsfolk, mouth wide with awe, points the direction.
The shop is mostly empty. A red-faced man is arguing with the proprietor, and a broad-shouldered, dark-haired man stands in one corner. He looks up as Goatie enters, and then quickly turns his attention to the merchandise.

Goatie patiently waits until the red-faced man is done arguing, and goes to look at some slings.
Jednook the griffin had been tied to a hitching rail outside - he is anxious about his master and peeks through the shop window, squawking loudly

The man in the corner jumps when he sees Jednook, and the shopkeeper glares. "That thing had better not scare off any customers!"

''More likely he'll bring them,'' remarked Goatie, recalling the interest Jednook had aroused in the street. ''I'm looking for light weaponry - what do you recommend, guv?''

"Well, you just keep an eye on 'im." The shopkeeper still looks skeptical, but softens a little at the question. "Let's see . . . we've got swords, we've got spears . . .. What kind of conditions do you plan on fighting in?"

Jednook begins tugging at his rope tied to the rail outside.
Goatie ponders for a minute. 'I need something for fighting in more enclosed spaces. I'm thinking perhaps crossbows or . . . Have you any of those new hand cannons from Asia?'

"You'll want short swords, then. We've got crossbows. What's an Asia?"

'Asia - the Far East? Never mind. I would like five crossbows (with bolts), and fifteen short swords please. No - scratch that. Can I have the crossbows, bolts, fourteen short swords and a long bow for myself, please, guv.'

"I can do that. Give me a few minutes to find everything." The shopkeeper goes into the back.

OOC: Asia does not exist in this world.
Goatie waits.
OOC: Righto
After several minutes, the shopkeeper returns with the crossbows. Over the course of four more trips, he also retrieves the short swords. During this time, the man in the corner leaves the shop without saying a word. Once all the weapons are brought out, the shopkeeper tells Goatie the price. It seems reasonable.
OOC: The continents we know exist are Co'Ren (where we are) and Kahltrain (where the Xains came from).

Raven Daknight walks into the village. He carries a bow, but no arrows. He enters a store and approaches the merchant. "Excuse me, do you have any arrows?"

The shopkeeper grunts assent. "What kind are you looking for and how many?" While he waits for a response, he points at a broad-shouldered, dark-haired man standing in one corner. "If you're not going to buy anything, at least make yourself useful. Get his arrows from the back."
