Welcome to the Castle RP Lore/Worldbuilding Topic! Here I will be posting all the Lore and Worldbuilding information I have created for this RP. Most of it is surplus to the RPing experience, so you don’t have to read it if you don’t want to. Please do consult the map when travelling between topics, however.
I have a ton of posts to make here, so please limit posting until I am done.

Flags of the North
First row, from left to right: Vasílio, Morñornia, The Goblin Nation Second row, from left to right: Aardhemir, Anvang Tuni, Auraboria, Sylvania Third row, from left to right: Harmonia, Stennev’avfjellan, Oruthal
Humans: You already know this one. They live mainly in the south, though there are many in Sylvania and Oruthal.
Elves: Shorter and slimmer than humans, elves have pointed ears and angular, often delicate, features. Elves are known for their agility and surprising strength, and their wisdom. They live in the west, as well as Sylvania and Oruthal.
Dwarves: Much shorter and stouter than humans, dwarves have large features and almost all have beards. Dwarves are known for their strength and determination, and for their excellent craftsmanship. They live in the north and near-southeast, as well as Sylvania and Oruthal.
Orcs: Somewhat larger than humans, they have small tusks and green or tan skin. Orcs are often (incorrectly) considered less intelligent than humans and are known for their strength and short tempers. They live the east and in Oruthal, and sometimes the Forest.
Goblins: Slightly shorter and much slimmer than dwarves, they have large pointed ears and green or tan skin. Goblins are considered untrustworthy (again, untrue) and are known for their cunning and craftiness. They live in the east and near-south, as well as Oruthal.
Trolls: Twice as tall as humans and three times as wide, they have large tusks and green or tan skin. Trolls are considered unintelligent (over exaggerated) and warlike (untrue) and are known for their strength and tough skin. They live in the east and the Forest, as well as Oruthal.
Hill Giants: Two to three times as tall as humans, they resemble them for the most part, though they tend to have larger ears and noses and curlier hair. Hill giants are known to be peaceful, but many still fear them for their immense size and strength. They live in the middle west.

Races Part 2
Frost Giants: Likely twice as large as hill giants and bearded, they are now only legends and little about their appearance and behaviors is known. They supposedly live in the far north.
Marsh Giants: Shorter than hill giants, they have brownish green skin, beady eyes, and long arms. Marsh giants are little more than animals and are also known as ogres. They live in the southeast, though not too far to the south.
Minotaurs: Slightly larger than orcs, they resemble brown-furred humanoids with bull's heads. Minotaurs, known for their strength, are now very rare, and though they have a rich culture they are often considered unintelligent. They live in the Plains and Desert and the Wilderlands.
Kriatoma: Also known as Graylings, they look much like humans, but their skin, hair, and eyes are gray. Kriatoma have barely been seen in centuries, so not much is known about them, but it is known that they are extremely strong, their skin is almost as hard as stone, and they are able to go into a stasis state- like a potentially infinite hibernation. They live on one of the small islands of Oruthal. Recently, the last of them have resurfaced after centuries of hibernation. Their current whereabouts are unknown.
Halflings: Smaller than dwarves and beardless, they are a largely mysterious race because they are not native to the continent nor have they been sighted on it more than a handful of times. There is currently only one confirmed to live on the continent.

Dragons Part 1
Dragons Traditional European-style dragons are known simply as dragons. They have forelegs, hind legs, and wings as well as some type of breath weapon and their scales come in a variety of colors. They are also the most intelligent type of dragon. Dragons can be found in various places, but the highest concentrations are in Sylvania and the Wilderlands. They come in a variety of sizes and unlike other dragons often live in familial groups. In the past, they were much more common and were either highly feared or highly respected, depending on the region, but now their numbers are dwindling. This was the type of dragon we fought in the Mountains.
Stone Wyrms Stone wyrms are one of the less intelligent types of dragon. They have forelegs and hind legs but no wings. Their scales are shades of gray and brown, allowing them to blend in with stone. Though they have no breath weapon, their fangs contain paralyzing venom. Stone wyrms are also quite large. They are mostly found in Stennev'avfjellan. Except for mothers with young children, they live alone. Their scales are used to make fine armor and other goods in Stennev’avfjellan and hunting them is not uncommon, though surviving such a hunt is.
Sand Wyrms Sand wyrms are very similar to stone wyrms, but are much smaller in size and lighter in coloration as well as less intelligent. Their venom is also much more potent. They mainly live in the desert, which is the only one on the continent. Except for mothers with young children, they live alone. Since the desert is so sparsely populated, few people ever encounter them, but the people who live in the desert consider them one of its greatest dangers.

Dragons Part 2 Sea Wyrms Sea wyrms are similar to other wyrms in many respects. They are larger than sand wyrms and smaller than stone wyrms. They are easily the most intelligent breed of wyrm. Their scales come in a variety of bright colors, especially blues and greens and their special adaptations allow them to survive on both water and land, though few actually spend much time out of the water. Their social structure is unknown, but it is believed to be like that of other wyrms. Those who live on the coast fear them, for they are known to destroy small ships and steal fish from fishermen. Many try to hunt them, but it is a dangerous and often futile pursuit.
Fire Drakes Fire drakes are a type of wyvern, meaning they have no forelegs. They are smaller than dragons and less intelligent. Their scales come in browns, reds, and oranges and they can breathe fire. They live mostly in the Wilderlands, as well as eastern Aardhemir and southeastern parts of the Goblin Nation. Peoples that live near them often attempt to hunt them because they steal livestock and even people. However, it is very dangerous and sometimes they simply choose to migrate. They often live in groups, making their presence even more dangerous. The threat of fire drake attacks is one reason why the peoples of the Wilderlands have never formed a strong united society with large permanent settlements.
Frost Drakes Frost drakes are the second breed of wyvern. Their scales are usually white or pale blue. They are larger than fire drakes, sometimes as large as dragons, and their intelligence is between the two. Their icy breath is a powerful weapon. They live in the Frigid North and the Icebound Isles. They are believed to live in groups. Few have ever seen them, due to their inhospitable habitats, but legends say that Frost Giants keep them as pets.

Dragons Part 3
Wind Drakes Wind Drakes are the third breed of wyvern. Their scales are grayish in color, but they often use their chameleon-like abilities to blend in with the sky. Unlike most other dragons, they never settle anywhere, instead living on the winds and only landing rarely to eat. They are smarter than frost drakes and extremely rare. They can breathe lightning. Because they are so rare and hard to find, their social structure is unknown. For whatever reason, they are mostly found around Oruthal, where they are known as Orodrakus and are bred as steeds for elite soldiers.
Drakons Drakons are by far the smallest type of dragon, being only about the size of a large eagle. They are also the least intelligent type of dragon and their scales are multicolored. They are wyverns. People oftentimes use them as pets or message carriers. It is believed that the owner must be present at hatching to tame them, so their eggs are highly valuable. They are found in Sylvania and other forested areas south of Stennev’avfjellan. They live in flocks in the wild.
