Sorry for the lack of new story parts! It's been another busy school week for me. I also want to make sure I get this next part just right since we're in what I believe to be the most important chapter of the story. Thanks for your patience!
No worries! Take your time! :3
Meanwhile I'm trying to prepare for anything so that my part will be perfect, too.
There is! This cloth is indeed lavender. Care to hazard what that might mean? *adjusts deerstalker*
The. . . suspect likes to wear lavender?
*chuckles* No, the suspect is a lady, most likely 5'7' medium build with blonde hair and brown eyes. She thinks a lot of herself and is very upset about the rip in her dress. She is also carrying a parasol.
Temptation thought long and hard at the question, yet he was speechless.
After a couple unsure glances at Joy, he realized he had no choice. He may have been able to escape giving out his poisoned cookies, escape being chained to his own cottage by his uncle, and escape being taken by his own colleagues, but this time there was no escape from answering Joy's question.
He lets out a small sigh, and answers, "I... I am Temptation, but I don't want to be Temptation any longer."
Joy gives a stern look at Temptation, processing every word he just said, then Temptation continues.
"If you no longer want to be with me, I understand. I'm the one who gives poisoned cookies, and I'm part of the organization that took your parents. I realize that all I've done is ruin people's lives, including yours and mine."
Joy interrupts, "What do you mean?"
"I don't know, I guess I still don't understand. I was tempted into joining the organization because they promised I could become better. They said that if I worked for them, they would give me anything I desire. I accepted the offer, and had lost myself to temptation and became temptation itself."
Joy asked, "How long did you say you did this for?"
"Ten years. I lived every day of those ten years tempting people with poisoned cookies and doing their deed. Inside me, I was broken, questioning every choice I made, and no one could see how I felt outside since I cover my face with this hood every day. It wasn't until I met you when I realized that perhaps there was something better."
"What about me?" Joy asked curiously.
"I don't know. Maybe it was your smile or something. You just seemed so... joyful when we met, and I hadn't seen the real joy like that for ten years. Despite all this, now you know that I'm Temptation and that I'm just nothing but trouble. I'm sorry for everything, for almost hurting you with my poisoned cookies, for getting you involved with people who would hurt you, and for being part of the organization that took your parents. I'm nothing but person who ruined your life. I don't deserve your forgiveness, and I don't deserve to matter to you."
Temptation was about to walk away, until Joy spoke.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is how the cookie crumbles. 👏

Goodness, how ever did you figure that out?
She's standing a few docks over and it seems she is tormenting that poor dock worker with a tirade, shall we intervene you think?
