Well I am of the mind that males are inclined to socialize in smaller groups. If you've noticed most guy groups are portrayed in 2-4 groups the most common being two and three. Also guys are wired in such a way that they can, on average, only handle about 10 minutes of relational upheaval. (Hence the classic couple fight, which we can get into if you like as well) Some guys can take more and some less but that's the average. Women seem to be able and made to handle much longer amounts of that, for lots of reasons that makes sense, so I think women tend to want more social contacts. Often we are wired to form a support net for each other. Lion prides kind of demonstrate this ratio well. I haven't done a ton of study on so I could be totally off but this is what I've observed so far.
