They were all pretty basic and repetitive, I experimented with some percussion in one, but I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. A later one got me third place in a composing competition or whatever, but I feel like there weren't that many entries.

I work on it on and off, I really want to get into rock and jazz composition, as those are some of my favourite genres. I've only experimented with piano, as that is my strongest instrument.
This is a bit of something different, but just out of curiosity does anyone here compose/write music?
I’ve tried a couple times, but I don’t know enough about music theory and don’t have the dedication to make good-sounding songs. I do have fun jamming on my bass from time to time, and I have one recorded to tape (yes you heard that right, TAPE).
That sounds very interesting and fun! Most of my compositions that I try to start I end up scrapping because I hate the sound of my work.
