That might be funny. Jay does seem ok with being himself in front of Kai when they first meet in the show, however it would be funny if he tried "maning up " in front of Kai so hopefully he'd tell his sister about him or something. Of course this is your story, so do whatever you feel will make the story great.
I mean, like, he's acting like he does in later seasons here; in the pilots he has a bit more...attitude. So maybe he gets all sassy and suave because he feels the need to impress Kai? (Not in a romantic way or anything, unless we're talking about his sister, but like...oh, maybe it comes on naturally or something, this is confusing.
This is somewhat confusing. Just do what you think sounds right.
"Students, this is your final test," Wu told us one day, probably a couple weeks later. "Hide in the roofs by the bathroom, and make sure no one sees you, got it? Stealth." He slammed his staff on the ground, and my heart nearly took a leap out of my chest.
*****
"Maybe he's been keeping this guy in his closet or something," Cole chuckled.
1. Totally normal instructions. 2. To funny. Wait, what if he actually did?

I sighed, but followed him. He threw a toothbrush at Zane, who caught it in his mouth and spat it at my head, then, with a small bonk, it bounced into Cole's shirt and he shivered. We surrounded him, and as soon as we started fighting, it went out into the training course. We weren't really sure what we were doing, but we were fighting...and getting hit by training equipment. It ended in a rather uncomfortable dog pile before Sensei cut in.
"STOP!"
"Yes, Sensei," I replied with the others, bowing obediently.
"They're you're students too?" The guy we'd been fighting looked confused and a bit betrayed. I raised an eyebrow. "This was my final test, wasn't it?"
"Woah, woah, woah." I chuckled, a habit of mine I couldn't break. "You never said anything about a fourth. It's always three. Three musketeers, three blind mice, three-" For some reason, that came out in a New Jersey accent.
Cole cut me off. "What he's trying to say, Sensei Wu, is that the three of us have trained together. We're solid."
I glared at him.
"Didn't look so solid to me," the young man in pajamas chuckled, and I turned to glare at him too. I liked glaring at people today for some reason.
"Master," Zane added. "What is the meaning of this?"
"Each of you have been chosen," Wu replied. "Each in tune with elemental abilities."
This got me excited. We were ninja saving the world, and now we were getting powers?
"But first," he cut in, "Ninja-GO!" Fast as lightning, he whipped himself into a golden tornado and I felt a rush of adrenaline as we were all shaken up by it. And then I was in...blue? This was just getting more and more awesome.
"Woah, how'd he do that?" the wild-haired boy, now in a red gi, asked in awe.
Feeling more than a little hyped, probably grinning like an idiot behind the mask, I added, "Hey, check out what color I am!"
Cole, however, looked disappointed. "Wait...I'm still back."
Cole glared at me before turning his attention back to Wu.

I didn't even notice that Jay was glaring so much in this part.

I'm not sure either, I just thought it would be entertaining to have that from his perspective and just be kinda salty for the first few minutes.
My my, it's beem years since I've read good quality Ninjago fan fiction. It brings me back to my early days on the original LMB. It's just a pure joy to be immersed into these types of stories again. I adore reimagionings of the characters and plots. It's just extremely fascinating to see and learn how others interpret existing characters that everyone enjoys. In all honesty this story might of even inspired me to post my own Ninjago re imagioning to the Ninjago story Boards, so I thank you in advance for that. I'll be keeling an interested eye on this one and may even poke around at your other posted works.
P.S. I love your discriptive use, personally I'm better at dialogue but to be frank my discription needs a lot of effort and further work so I'm green with envy at how naturally it comes to you!

Aww, thank you! I had to smile reading that. I also greatly miss the original MBs and have a lot of great memories there, so it's wonderfully nostalgic to find a user of the old MBs! What was your username there? I may or may not recognize you.

It's the same as it is here, on the original LMB was actually the first time I used nya2468 and it's stuck with ever since so I find it amusing that you asked. Granted I sorta became inactive so I don't fault you for not recognising me.
