Do you guys think it would be a definite bad idea to give a character the last name of Solo? I mean Han Solo is, like, an iconic character from a mega-franchise. But, surely there have been other characters in other stories with the (in my character's case self-given) surname of Solo. But again, Han had it first. What do guys think? Should I give this character the surname of Solo, or should I not?
Change there last name to Polo.
Yeah but then everyone's gonna think of him as an Italian merchant or whatever that Marco guy was. XD
Thanks. XD Cool. What kinds of stories have you guys made up before?
Ohhh, gosh. . . O_O' . . . I remember one about Nerds. Like, the candy. The candy, but as a people. . . like, someone had been transformed into a Nerds and met all the Nerds. . . oh my gosh, that was so long ago, I can barely remember it. XD
*dies laughing* Lol! That's great. XD Oh! That reminds me! My brother and I made up a story once about a bunch of gummy candies! There was the good gummy bears and then an evil cult of gummy foxes! And the foxes would hunt and roast and eat the gummy bears. And all of this took place on someone's kitchen table. XD Now that was an interesting story. XD
Quite. What're some of the things that inspired you to write?
Lots of things. Movies, books, music, places, people, experiences, and stuff I just think of in my head too. How about you?
Probably all of the above, honestly. There's just so much of the world that can help us create so much. xD I think I often liked to imitate movies I watched and books I read, and I wanted to preserve those stories I'd create in my head.
Hmm. I understand where you're coming from, being freshly introduced to the Star Wars world. I don't see any harm in it, as I've done little references like that myself when I was SW-crazy. ^.^ It might look obvious, though, so if you're writing something that you want to look professional, you might have to think of a different surname.
I think I'm probably gonna go with another name. Thanks for your help though! ^.^

That's hilarious! XD And horrifying. O_O Hey, what's with the candy-related stories...? I guess we kids really appreciated our candy to the point of honoring them with their own cultured fables.
If the story isn't space themed and doesn't have a Star Wars vibe it should be fine. Also if you paired it with a really unquie name that sounds nothing like Han you should be good. It would also help if your character isn't like Han Solo as far as personality, looks, and they way they dress.
Well, it does take place in another galaxy, though it doesn't have much of a SW vibe to it. The name's pretty different from Han though. As far as the character's personality, looks and how he dresses, he's nothing like Han, at all. xD I think I'm probably gonna use a different surname.
You might be totally fine then. XD It's up to you.

Yes. XD I take a lot of my better ideas from daydreaming, which are often inspired by the stuff I said.

That's pretty cool. That reminds me of when I had a hard time falling asleep at night (still do, technically) a few years ago, I'd make up stories in my head to entertain myself until I fell asleep. Some stories took weeks to create.

*gasp* That is genius! I am going to remember this next time I can't fall asleep. (so, probably tonight. xD)

Yay! Just be careful, sometimes I'd get over-excited about a plot point and keep myself up even longer! XD
Actually, ninjagofanmam, I used to read one of your LMB stories... It was really good too!! I'm writing a book in real life now. (And I legit have too many other story ideas that I'm never gonna get to turn into books because life isn't long enough... )

Same! I don't do it as much as I used to, but I've been doing that pertty much as long as I can remember.
