Staff, I think it's weird, confusing, and something that won't make this site better. That's my two cents. Do you like them?

Don't imagine the staff will mind me talking about this maybe in more detail but originally whisper tags came up and were dismissed as an idea. They were brought up again as a potential vote for users to have but considering the impact on moderation had not yet been tested it was agreed any introduction of them would be on a trial run so moderators could report back on how it impacted moderation. To put a long story short it makes moderating posts a lot harder to do. Clicking edit to see them, in my opinion, is fine it's the fact that when they are used there is no indication that they are being used simply meaning any gap between lines or paragraphs is a potential whisper tag which means for pre-moderation to actually be as effective as it can be (aka as safe as possible without drastically increasing the time it takes to clear backlogs) they've been removed again.
In terms of making the site better, they have potential to make RPs better which is why we allowed them to be run as a trial. It completely prevents any jammer snooping which has come up on the RPs in the past. But ultimately the impact on moderation is what really dictates them being able to be there or not.
