But if the ninja could just summon the elemental dragons whenever they want, there would be no point to the new dragons. It's a big plot hole that can't be filled now.
Well there could at least just be an in canon reason the main ninja can't use they're elemental dragons and Skylor can, right?
It would be really complicated to explain, though, especially with all the fans reeled in by The LEGO Ninjago Movie.
Alright, everyone, now Bricklovers TV has uploaded the new trailer to Season 9! Sadly, it's in another language, but we already know most of the plot details already. What we didn't know, however, is that all of the elemental masters are returning!

Yes! It's great to see all the elemental masters again! And Skylor!
I don't know what they were, their eyes were glowing, they were snarling, and I decided to call that their evil zombie-vampire-werecat-or-whatever faces. Or their Monday faces. Yeah, another good example! At least we got a Lil' Nelson mini-fig out of that spoof.
Monday faces, that's a good name for them. Good point!

I saw it! Honestly, I was not expecting a trailer for Season 9 so soon, even in another country.
High-quality set images have come out. The only ones I'm interested in are the throne room, the Oni Titan, and maybe the dragon pit. Not sure why everyone seems to hate the Oni Titan. I'm not really into the dragons and vehicles for the Hunted wave. I prefer the older style of Ninjago dragons with the rubbery heads. These new dragons look more medieval than oriental.

I'm not a fan of the Oni Titan because of it's strange proportions, it's ugly colour scheme of grey, dark blue and olive green, and the fact that most of the minifigures come in a cheaper set with a decent build. I love both of the vehicles for their really unique designs, and the Firstborn Dragon looks gorgeous to me with higher quality pictures. I don't like the Stormbringer Dragon, though, mainly because of how thin the body is.

So how would you rank each set?
I don't know what my ranking would be. I've only seen one of the "dragon flyer" sets (airjitzu-type sets, it looks like).

You can just group them all together, since they are really similar. As for my ranking, from favourite to least favourite:
