After getting into a horrible accident, Hanna Julien, master of winter, is left without a memory or a voice. Upon waking up in a psychotic hospital, Hanna escapes narrowly, and she stumbles upon the base of the ninja as her memory slowly returns. But it's Lloyd, master of energy, that really brings everything into focus as she begins to discover her potential.
Meanwhile, lovable Master of Lightning, Jay Walker-Gordon, is desperately trying to keep the piece as colleagues Cole and Kai begin to feud. Struggling with multiple fears and anxieties is hard, especially when you're a ninja, and Jay is no exception. Trying to woo his girlfriend, Nya, while attempting to gather the courage to fight, is nearly impossible. But then again, a ninja never quits, right?
Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon was expecting a fight from enemies, but a fight from best friends? As he struggles to keep the ninja team together and strong, Lloyd feels like Hanna is the only one who feels him. But a certain childish blue ninja is about to give him a friendship that will set a new light in his heart.

Nya is determined to save Kai and Jay from a terrible curse, Lloyd finds an unlikely friendship with the enemy that may prove to be fatal, Zane struggles to keep himself and the team together, and Cole faces his past in order to save his and everyone else's future -- and learns more about his heritage than he ever wished to know. In the end, it may take more than a ninja to restore peace.
