OOC: I know I'm late but, eh. IC: 18:12 (UCT) Gotham City The city is in uproar. At the close of a busy day, Gothamites travel home by bus, car and other means of transport. It's a busy road, packed with people excited, tired and yelling at the slow-coach in front of them. At such a dark time of day, the city is illuminated with the sounds and lights of urban life. 18:13 A large vehicle pulls up in front of the Gotham City bank. Suspicious, two guards move to investigate - you can never be too careful in Gotham. One checks the front, and finds that no one is in the driver's seat, the vehicle must have been remote piloted. "What the -. There's no one here. Check the back!" the front guard calls. 18:14 With her weapon raised, the other guard uses one hand to swing open the back doors. Inside is found a large cuboid object the seems to be emitting a low humming noise. The only other notable feature, was the clock ticking down. "It's a bomb! Get to -" Too late. 18:15 The clock stops. The humming speeds up - rising in sound to an ear-splitting pitch. All falls silent quickly, but then, as if the humming had built up in the silence, a pulse is emitted from the cuboid. It expands in size until it stops leaving a section of dark city in its wake. At the same time as the first, other pulses scatter throughout the city (@rcc: multiple made more sense than one, it still has the same effect though as originally planned), enveloping the city and outskirts until all falls dark. It is clear now that the pulses emitted were EMPs that disrupted anything that operated using electricity - cars stop, machines go silent, screens turn blank, clocks stop ticking, lights go out - the city is left in darkness.
The first thing heard afterwards is the screaming. People are in a panic, not knowing how to respond, several stranded on motorways and bridges, far from home and what they consider safe in such a dangerous city. Soon, however, voices rise above the cries of terror; all voices repeating the same message across the city: 'Dear Gotham City Merry Christmas. Consider this my gift to you. An early vacation, no more work, no more school, no more effort for the next few days. When I was a child, the few Christmases I ever experienced with a family were dedicated solely to family - and how much they could disappoint each other. That is what you have now, the chance to be with your family for the Christmas weekend. Spend it wisely. I must say Gotham, as Christmas was a disappointment year after year for me, so have you become. Disappointments, all of you. You seem so caught up in your decorations and gifts that you neglect every other day. A message is what I give you, every day counts. You are so caught up and distracted, you pay no attention to others, you even forgot today. Observe the calendar Gotham. Tonight is the Longest Night of the year, it shall no soon come again, so enjoy it and stay safe for your own sakes. Happy Winter Solstice, Gotham. It's time to observe the calendar. Truthfully yours, Calendar Man.'
The message makes all fall silent as it is said, trying to find some meaning to the words. As soon as it ends, all is silent; and then, the panic starts again. So too, does the Longest Night.
{JAMMERS! Villain RPCs ONLY!}Across the expanse of the country and beyond, a message is passed on. A whispered word, a hidden message found discarded in an alley or in a coded radio transmission. By whatever means, the message arrives in the hands (or other limbs) of most of the villains of the world. The message, is an invitation. It reads:
{Spoiler}To the most wild, chaotic and villainous Christmas celebration known to Earth. Join us for a heinous weekend of pillaging, theft, ransacking and all manner of crimes.
Welp, this post went all Stephanie Brown on me, but hey, you get it.
As rumours spread, my RPCs make their way to Gotham. They find the city dark and in chaos. They contact the Daily Planet via mobile phone, and then they do what they can to help troubled citizens.
IC: December 22 All has been dark for about a day. Fires have been lit in certain areas in order to illuminate for traveling Gothamites, but most take refuge in their homes to wait out the Longest Night. Meanwhile, the Scarecrow stalks the night. He has been given a particular task by one Julian Day (who was too old and incapable of doing it himself). In exchange, Crane gets to witness the nyctophobia first hand. The city seems empty as he climbs the steps of the Gotham City Bank with gas canister, one in such circumstances may suffer from agoraphobia or autophobia. Walking through the door, he is rather surprised to see some security personnel still on duty, it seems that the best people of morality can only be found in crisis. Not wanting too much trouble, the Scarecrow releases the fear toxin within the gas canisters.

OOC: I didn't finish this very well.
The gas engulfs the people there (between 7-12), creating an illusion of their fears come to life. A few of them scream and begin cowering, others faint. Scarecrow approaches one of them and whispers rather silently. "The vault is safe. You can be safe in the vault; hurry, before it gets you." The guard looks around, "the vault," they say "I'll be safe in the vault." They get up and walk to the vault with Scarecrow following, leaving the rest to panic on the floor.
*The Flash runs into the city. He runs around at high speeds, creating a light. He then attempts to help people as much as he can.*
An unmistakable energy trace can be detected. It is felt for a moment and then its origin appears in a flash of red and black lightning (not the hero ). Eobard Thawne. "This isn't your city Flash, you shouldn't be here."

*Vigilante’s gas mask makes him immune to the toxin. He heads towards the source.*

He passes the several guards lying on the floor, a few call out for help but nothing can be done to help them. Following the trail, he finds Scarecrow watching as a guard trys to force open the vault door. Scarecrow turns and faces Vigilante, chain sickle in hand.

OOC: I can't find if there is a jewelry store in Gotham or not, so i'm just going to assume there is not one.
IC: *Blizzard skates around the city looking for anything that sells jewelry. He doesn't see any stores so he touches down at the entrance to the bank. He notices the green mist, but is not effected because of the frosty air around him. He looks around the bank, and he heads down the hallway and arrives at the vault after a little bit.* "Hey, I know i'm late to the party, but i know you're a villain so you must be a hero." *Blizzard freezes Vigilante.* "Now, i'll take any jewels in this vault. You got any problems with that?"

Not yours either, Thawne! *Runs to deliver a supersonic punch.*

OOC: 1. There probably is one in the big city. Also I’m not entirely sure that’s how gas works. I’m doing Chemistry so I should know.

A clap of Thawne's hands creates a small sonicboom to push back the Flash.
