“Everyone get out of here!” Cole shouted, gesticulating as he ran. “Get out of the building! There are—!” Two of the giant cats burst out of the room behind them, lashing their tails and caterwauling loudly. The residents standing in the hallway shrieked and shouted in shock, and the crowd scattered. Some people raced back into their rooms, others ran for the elevators or stairs. The ninja and Liana pushed their way frantically through the panicking crowd, trying to find an escape route. At first Cole was worried that the cats would attack the bystanders, but it soon became clear the antagonists wanted only the ninja. Snarling, they shoved people out of their way and bounded down the hallway, menacing eyes on the ninja. “Liana!” Cole grabbed her arm and shouted over the terrified cries of the rushing crowd. “Get out of here, it’s not safe!” “And leave you to fight them by yourselves?” She snapped impatiently. “Not a chance!” “You don’t understand!” He growled with frustration. “They only want us, they don’t—Look out!!” Liana whipped around and whipped her nunchucks into the side of one cat’s head, who was charging toward her. The creature wailed and tumbled to the floor whilst the panicking people raced about the passage, shouting wildly. “This way!” Zane gestured and ducked into a doorway. Jay and Cole followed, with Liana close behind. They slammed the door open and found themselves in a stairway, the steps leading far down below and high above. Zane raced to the stairs leading up, calling. “We can escape this way!”
Cole yelled and scrambled under the bed, avoiding the blade-like claws in the nick of time. The cat yowled when it lost its balance and smashed into a dresser, knocking over a chair and the desk lamp in the process. It fell on its back, and before it could stumble to its paws Zane cried out. “Ice!” A burst of frozen liquid shot out from the palms of his hands and slammed into the cat. The creature screeched furiously as the ice pinned him down to the floor, covering his belly and hind legs. It twisted and swiped at Cole, who scrambled from under the bed. Jay suddenly shouted. “Look out!” Another cat burst in through the window, caterwauling loudly and lashing its long tail. “Get out of here!” Cole slammed the door open and shoved Liana into the hallway, Zane and Jay close behind. They raced out to the living area, where a middle-aged man and three teenage girls sat on the couches, all on their smartphones and devices. They looked up in shock as Liana and the three ninja burst in. “Everyone get out of here!” Zane gasped. “There’s—!” One of the cats ran up from behind and smashed into the nindroid, sending them both tumbling to the ground. A chair and coffee table were knocked over, and the girls shrieked. The man, who was slightly overweight and had balding brown hair—presumably Uncle George—shouted in shock and bolted from the couch, dropping his device. “Call the police!” Cole cried as he charged the huge cat and tried to wrestle him off Zane. George stood still in shock for a moment, then shouted. “Girls, get out of here!” He raced for the door and slammed it open, his daughters close behind. “Liana, go join your—AUGH!” He cried out when claws slashed his back and ripped through his shirt. Whipping around, he saw a ragged calico cat standing there, baring its teeth and lashing its tails. Snarling, it latched itself with its claws onto Cole’s back. Fiery pain coursed through his back —he screamed out loud. The cat dragged him backwards across the floor.
The cat dragging him back hissed and jammed its huge paws onto his throbbing back, making him cry out. Cole was shocked at how much the scratches stung; he felt as if fire had lashed into his body and was throbbing throughout him, every movement now a pain. * * * Cole tottered to his feet to see Liana standing there, her trusty nunchucks thrust under her armpit. * * * The four of them dashed out of the hotel room, where several people were stepping out of their own apartments curiously. “What’s going on? What’s with all the noise?” One sleepy lady in a pink nightgown questioned.
I wonder if their claws are poisoned. . . .
Quite predictable.
You don't want to know, lady-in-a-pink-nightgown, just go back to your room.

But they might want Liana too, because she's the elemental master of EXPLOSION.

That, or they're just dirty and the cuts will get infected.

Yeah, they totally need the Master of EXPLOSION to fight off giant cats!
Cole slammed the door shut behind Liana and looked for something to lock it. A thin pipe ran up the side of the wall, partially covered in cobwebs and rust. With a grunt, he used his super-strength and wrenched it from its place on the wall, making several bolts and screws fly out of their place. He worked on shoving the pipe into the doorknob to lock it, but suddenly something slammed into the door beyond, trying to force it open. Cole accidentally dropped the pipe and it clattered to the floor. With a growl of frustration he pressed his back against the door and shoved fiercely against the weight from behind. “Get up to the roof!” He shouted over the loud yowls of the cats from the hallway. “I’ll catch up!” Liana looked as if she wanted to protest, but Jay grabbed her hand and forced her up the stairs, close behind Zane. As his friends darted up, their rapid footsteps echoing throughout the tall room, Cole fought against the cat shoving at the door, grunting and straining to keep it shut. Finally the door burst open, sending Cole sprawling across the floor with a shout. He whipped around to see more cats bounding in, eyes gleaming with malice. Before they could catch him, he sprang to his feet, summoned an Airjitzu ball of rushing air, and took flight. The cats lashed their two tails furiously and hissed as he flew above their heads and up with the stairs. When he reached the top, he grabbed the railing and let the rush of air drop. For a moment he dangled there, wiggling his legs, then pulled himself over the rail and dropped to the floor. He groaned when his throbbing back hit the cold floor, then scrambled to his feet. He glanced over the railing to see, to his dismay, the cats already darting up the stairway, eerily fast. He dashed to the door leading to the roof and slammed it open. Zane, Jay and Liana were already standing there, with Zane saying. “I’ve contacted Nya, and the others are all right. They’ll be here on the Bounty shortly.” Cole opened his mouth to reply, but he was interrupted by the caterwauling of their pursuers. He whipped around and slammed the door, just before the cats got to it. “Help me!” He shouted.
Man, when I get started on an action scene, I really dig in. I'm going to try to post these parts faster.
The others dashed over to him and shoved against the door, but it burst open, cats spilling out onto the rooftop. Cole tumbled over and scrambled to his feet, just before one of the enormous felines charged him. He snatched its paws, claws unsheathed, and grappled with the cat. Both stood up and grunted and strained as they tried to push the other one over. Behind him Zane, Jay, and Liana exchanged blows with the other assailants, Zane shooting ice and using Spinjitzu whilst Jay and Liana battled using their nunchucks. They were clearly outnumbered, and Cole feared that if the Bounty didn’t get here soon, they’d be toast. Something sharp pierced the palms of his hands, and Cole cried out. Looking down in shock, he saw that the cat he was grappling with had unsheathed its claws and was digging down viciously into his hands. Their eyes met, and the cat flattened its ears and hissed. Cole twisted and kicked at the cat’s hind legs, causing the silver-gray tabby to stumble. He cried out when the claws left his hands and clutched them, feeling them throb. He then forced himself to clench his hands into fists and punch at the feline, grimacing against the pain. The cat dodged and swiped at him, but Cole ducked the blow. Before he could retaliate, the cat shoved him onto his wounded back and jammed its paws onto his chest, knocking the breath out of him. Thrashing wildly for air, the cat’s victim writhed and wriggled frantically under its grip, but no amount of struggle availed Cole. With a nasty grin, the cat clawed at his exposed torso, making the ninja let loose a loud cry. It seemed to revel gleefully in his pain. Cole gasped breathlessly and swiped desperately, feeling his many wounds throb painfully beneath his shredded clothing. As he flailed, he was dimly aware of the sound of rocket boosters drawing nearer, but he didn’t make a note of it. If someone didn’t help him soon, this may be his last adventure.
